Darius Sirleaf
Darius Sirleaf 5'9" | 170 lbs | DB | 2023

Iowa prospects sent in their film to be evaluated for both the things they did well and some things to improve on. [player_tooltip player_id="140139" first="Darius" last="Sirleaf"] (2023) | 5'9" 170lbs | DB/WR | Des Moines East [player_tooltip player_id="140139" first="Darius" last="Sirleaf"] is a solid athlete for Des Moines East High School. Darius is very versatile on the field when utilized as a receiver, in the backfield, and as a defensive back. He hits the holes well. I loved his ability to play zone defense as a defensive back. He has a good feel of where the receiver is while also keeping his eyes on the quarterback. This skill allows Darius to make plays on receivers and ball carriers. Darius is still a great tackler despite his smaller frame and can fight off blockers to tackle the ball carrier. Something that helps with this is his quickness and reaction time; Darius does not hesitate when he sees what is going on, and he accelerates in to make a play. He does a great job of playing through the hands of the receivers, but I would like to see Darius continue to work on his hands and making plays on the ball. [player_tooltip player_id="242691" first="Ryker" last="Stelling"] (2023) | 5'11" 195lbs | LB | Cedar Rapids Kennedy
Ryker has great speed for a linebacker. I love watching his play recognition ability and pass drops. He quickly recognizes whether it is a run or a pass, and he accelerates to fill a hole or play great coverage. His recognition and speed allowed him to make plays across the field in the pass game. He also has great pursuit of the football and never quits on the play. Ryker plays physical, which is nice to see paired with his speed. I see why he has a lot of colleges interested in him, and I am excited to see what he does his senior year. I would like to see Ryker continue to work on high pointing the ball and his hands so that he can convert some of his tips into interceptions. I would also like to see him continue to work on his moves to get off of linemen when lined up at the line of scrimmage.
https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13089716/617758e14797b3052c6762b5 [player_tooltip player_id="247924" first="Dalen" last="Huston"] (2024) | 6'3" 204lbs | QB | Marshalltown
Dalen did a nice job navigating the pocket for a sophomore. He was able to make plays out of nothing, which was fun to see. He did a nice job of making throws on the run and while pressured. Dalen's pocket presence allowed him to make plenty of plays with his feet as well. He has nice agility and speed in the open field, and he was able to showcase his size as well by bouncing defenders off of him. Dalen was also able to make multiple plays in the passing game as well. He was able to thread the needle on a couple passes to hit open receivers.
I would like to see Dalen continue to work on his throwing motion. It seemed inconsistent through the film, and I feel that it is limiting his accuracy and power. I would also advise Dalen to continue working on his ability to not panic while in the pocket. He seemed very comfortable outside of the pocket, but not as much in the pocket. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/14722334/618dea6e578d0b03e02385dc [player_tooltip player_id="105143" first="Zavion" last="McMurran"] (2023) | DE | Estherville Lincoln Central Seeing Zavion tackle is a thing of beauty. He does a great job of getting low and running the feet, which sends the offensive player flying. He is a violent, punishing hitter that is not afraid of contact. Zavion isn't afraid to lay his body on the line, which allows him to make many great diving tackles. He also has good speed and a great ability to get down the line. I would like to see Zavion continue to work on his pass rush moves. He was great in the run game, but he struggled a little bit in the pass game. He will be able to improve by working on his footwork and hands, which will elevate his game to the next level. I am excited to see the player that Zavion can become if he takes these steps. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12641183/5fe0e84d2352670f90386940 [player_tooltip player_id="247896" first="Rylan" last="Barnes"] (2023) | 6'3" 200lbs | TE/LB/ATH | West Hancock Rylan showed good speed on offense and defense for his size. This allowed him to get past defenders and make plays as a receiver. I loved his patience in the passing game and when carrying the ball. He showed good agility in the open field and was able to make defenders miss. Rylan also has good ball skills, and he was able to make multiple high-point catches in traffic. He had great patience, which allowed him to get open in many of his routes. I would like to see Rylan continue to work on his physicality at the line of scrimmage on offense and tackling. Rylan went low on a lot of tackles, which will not work as well when filling holes in the run game. I want to see Rylan be a punishing run blocker as a tight end. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13165292/61a52d0e4bb31b0accf47c7a Evan Kearney (2023) | ATH | Iowa Valley Evan can do it all. He played some quarterback where he had a great ability to escape and a strong arm and good mechanics. Evan has a great ability to freeze the defender with his shifty moves in the open field. He has great speed and acceleration that allowed him to pull away from defenders in the open field. Evan did a good job of roaming around on defense and reading the quarterback's eyes. He also played some receiver, where he was able to find the ball well and make contested catches. I would like to see Evan continue to work on his his route running and lowering his pads when running the football. On a side note, I would love to see more film of Evan on defense, I see him being a solid safety. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13263425/61770e42e97ae807285209f8
