Continue ReadingThese players are coming off big 2021 seasons for their respective teams and are poised to burst onto the scene in 2022. Below, we will dive into their film and breakdown their strengths from last season and what to look forward to seeing from them going into the 2022 season.
Zane Roeder, Oak Ridge HS
Roeder is a big bodied kid that is very athletic for his size and a true two-gap penetrator. He can eat up blocks and will only improve his movement ability as he continues on through his career. Off the ball, he plays with heavy hands and good technique in the run game for his size. At the next level, he should find his home on the offensive side of the ball and offers some position versatility at the guard or tackle position depending on development development through his prep career.
Makari Kenion Makari Kenion 5'10" | 155 lbs | ATH Pittsburg | 2025 State CA , Bishop O’Dowd HS
Kenion is one of the top 2025 prospects across the Bay Area and is explosive with the ball in his hands and displays elite short area quickness and the ability to make people miss in space. He can be used as a gadget player and excels in space while offering nice return ability with open field speed and cutback abilities. He will only continue to develop and should be one of the top players in his class over the next three seasons.
Michael Cooley, Bishop O’Dowd HS
Cooley is still very raw but has the frame and length to pack on more weight before and during college. He is mostly used as an edge player and uses his length to deflect passes and shed blockers while keeping them away from his chest and showing good speed when collapsing the pocket. Still developing and very raw, his length and athletic combination make him a prospect to keep a close eye on during the 2022 season.
Ellis Burger, Acalanes HS
Burger can play on both sides of the ball but does a lot of damage out of the backfield. Playing for one of the top teams in the section, he is a strong ball carrier that can break and run through open field tackles and has some open field speed when bouncing it outside and gaining the edge. A tough and physical runner inside for his size, he runs hard and has good vision in tight windows while offering return ability when returning kicks.
Jake Hall, Oak Ridge HS
Hall is one of the top defenders in the SFL and is athletic for the inside linebacker position while able to apply pressure off the edge and displays a quick play diagnosis. In the run game, he is physical in the box and can scrape over the top and shock blockers in traffic while tracking down ball carriers with good closing speed and tackling abilities, especially against bigger backs. He is a high motor player that can make an impact at the next level.
