Continue ReadingRankings have been completed for classes 2022-2025, early signing day has passed, and we’ll be in the thick of the offseason soon. Over the next few weeks, we’ll dive back into the rankings to highlight the prospects at each position that should be on your radar. Today we are breaking down the running back rankings highlighting backs that have a speed, power, balanced & dominant blocking skill set.
Speed
Daniel Harper Daniel Harper 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Calvert Hall | 2023 MDDaniel is a blazer bringing track speed to the turf. On the track he’s been competing at the national level since 2017, his events are the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints, and the long jump. In the 100-meter sprint he runs a 10.89s, in the 200-meter sprint he runs a 22.3s and jumps a 21’9 in long jump. Harper isn’t your typical speed back where you’d expect more of a scat back skill set. At 5’9 185lbs he has the size and strength to play physical and be tough to bring down. Once Harper is in the open field 9/10 you can go ahead and put six points on the board!

Power
Jordan Fiorenza Jordan Fiorenza 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Dundalk | 2023 State MDFiorenza is a 5’11 205lb slippery bull. He breaks tackles, moves piles, initiates contact and runs defenders over; while still possessing the speed to break off TD runs 30+ yards long. Along with some threatening speed Jordan demonstrates some receiving and even passing skill in his film. Fiorenza is carrying some impressive accolades into his senior season as he earned 1st Team All-County, 1st Team All-Metro, and rushed for 1400+ yards and 23 TDs. With an impressive 2021 he helped lead the Dundalk Owls to a State Championship appearance. Fiorenza is attending Junior Day at Georgetown University today, keep an eye on him as his recruiting will continue to heat up.

Balanced
Tavon McGee Jr Tavon McGee Jr 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Poly | 2023 State MDMcGee is a very underrecruited back out of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. He has a 3.5 GPA, stands at 5’11″ 200lbs, squats 505lbs, has a 4.18 shuttle, benches 275lbs, and rushed for 1000+ yards in 2021. Tavon is also a 3-sport athlete playing lacrosse and running indoor track in the offseason. During indoor track season he ran the 55-meter and 300-meter sprints. In the 55m he clocked a time of 7.25s and in the 300m he clocked a 42.05s. McGee’s game gives you a little bit of everything strength, breakaway speed, power on contact, and size.
This isn’t a game for the weak if you scared of the BEAST just say that 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️#RecruitBaltimore pic.twitter.com/Z6u1UpuY8c

Blocking
Daquan Dorsey Daquan Dorsey 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Rock Creek Christian | 2023 MDDorsey is far from just a blocking back, he’s one of the best at blocking out of the backfield. What sets Dorsey apart is his aggressiveness and violence he brings behind his pads. He shows his athleticism using an arsenal as moves while carrying the ball. Blocking, he absolutely unloads power on contact knocking defenders back. What’s really impressive is that he can pancake a defender and continue leading his teammates down the field. As a coach Dorsey is the type of player you need on your team, he’ll score the points and do whatever he can to help his team win, even if that doesn’t include having the ball in his possession. He helped lead Mt. Carmel to one heck of a first season with a 6-3 record and blow out 63-0 MIAA “C” Conference Championship. Watch Dorsey and the Cougars compete in the MIAA “B” Conference this year against a lot more D1/D2 talent.
