Last year, around this time Prep RedZone Arkansas started a series of Under the Radar articles focusing on a player or position grouping. With spring football upon us, I am going to start a series of Under the Radar articles that will once again focus on players and position groupings. We are going to take a look at a few quarterbacks that are flying under the radar and ready to emerge onto the scene this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="135229" first="Weston" last="Pierce"]-Maumelle-6’3” 180-Pounds
The Maumelle quarterback has a strong arm and is impressive throwing the deep ball. He does an impressive job of hitting receivers in stride and he is a quarterback that is extremely accurate. Pierce is not afraid to talk off with the football and pick yardage via the ground game. He has a good sense of how much time he as to throw the football and knows when to escape the pocket. Pierce is a quarterback to keep an eye on in 2022, he has the potential to have a strong season.
[player_tooltip player_id="159665" first="Kade" last="Smith"]-Harding Academy-5’11” 180-Pounds
Smith does a great job of knowing when to get rid of the football. The clock in his head goes off and he either makes the throw or scrambles for yardage. Smith is a strong runner and can break tackles in impressive fashion. The composure that he plays with is extremely impressive. Smith is a quarterback that has won state championships and he is just a calm quarterback with an accurate arm. Look for another strong football season from [player_tooltip player_id="159665" first="Kade" last="Smith"] in 2022.
[player_tooltip player_id="178752" first="Hunter" last="Ferrell"]-Bauxite-6’3” 195-Pounds
Ferrell is a quarterback that moves around well in the pocket and makes the throw down the field. He has a strong arm, and he can make all the throws down the field. I am extremely impressed with his ability to throw on the run. Ferrell does a good job of being able to fit passes into some tight windows. The Bauxite quarterback is someone to keep an eye on for the 2022 season. He has all the tools to have a strong season for the Miners in 2022.
[player_tooltip player_id="251403" first="Zachary" last="Grant"]-Beebe-6’0” 205-Pounds
Grant is a mobile quarterback that is not afraid to pick up yards on the ground. He has an accurate arm and does an impressive job of throwing his receivers open. The Beebe quarterback can fit the ball into some tight windows. Grant is great at being able to throw while on the run and connecting with his receivers downfield. He is another quarterback that I expect to have a big season in 2022.
[player_tooltip player_id="178038" first="Wesley" last="Campbell"]-Fountain Lake-5’9” 175-Pounds
The Fountain Lake quarterback is one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2023 class. Campbell can throw the football with accuracy and fit it into some tight windows. When running the football, Campbell does not quit on the play, and he keeps his legs driving. Campbell has the arm strength to make some tough throws and he does so while escaping the pocket. Campbell has the potential to have a strong season for Fountain Lake in 2022.
