Expert Analysis
Corey Bailey | Prep Redzone Scout
We saw Baldwin put some solid strong safety play on display in this first game. He came downhill and made tackles for very short gains in the run game and laid out for CHC’s first interception in the first half. He showed impressive change of direction and concentration to bring in his first INT of the season. This prospect has been on the radar and on the rise since his freshmen season with the cardinals.

Baldwin has been on a steady increase in his recruiting stock over the off season. He excelled in 2 other sports, wrestling and track and field, and made states in both. Just as predicted, he picked up a few offers since last off-season UNC Charolette, JMU, Kent State, and Boston College being the latest. He had a solid 2022 season making plays sideline to sideline. Lookout for Baldwin to possibly have a breakout year with 2 years of varsity experience.

Byron showed effective jam technique at the line and stayed in the hip of the receiver during his reps. He was just as tall or taller than the receivers at the showcase allowing him to create a mismatch on the defensive side of the ball. One thing that stood out about Baldwin in his technique is that he was sure to turn his head once in position, instead of getting the P.I. flag.

#13->#11
Baldwin is developing into a do it all DB. He is very versatile, but productive at the same time. He plays man to man well at corner, zone from safety and supports the run from both positions on the field. He is a plug and play type of player in the secondary and brings intensity with his game. Baldwin continues to impress, he has a championship as a freshman, missed it this season but keep an eye on Baldwin to lead the CHC defense next season.
