Simmons is a 6’1, 175 lbs wide receiver out of Glenwood. The dynamic junior can beat teams in a variety of ways, as he tallied over 1,100 all-purpose yards last season. What makes Simmons most dangerous is after the catch (or hand off), as he cuts in and out of tackles to make defenders look silly in the open field. He is a major asset in the screen game or on jet hand offs, but also possesses the straight line speed to run past safeties or nickels from the slot. Simmons also has a long frame and plus strength, allowing him to make catches and break tackles by more than just juke moves. Keep an eye on this rising star in Simmons as he heads towards his senior year.
The slot WR for Glenwood is an exciting mismatch. The junior tracks the ball and can twist his body to make the catch while staying in stride. He has natural hands that quickly pluck the ball out of the air. Where I was most impressed was after the catch. After the catch Gavin is a strong runner. You see him pull free of arm tackles. He even moves the pile of DBs that try to bring him down. Plus Simmons has the agility you want to see in the slot both while route running and after the catch.

Glenwood | 2025 StateIL is one of a plethora of talented WRs making up the loaded 2025 PRzIL rankings, and Chatham, a town of over 14k, should be very excited about the 6′, 175 lb. pass-catchers future. His sophomore tape is impressive, opening with a sweet one-handed grab while working out of the slot, and goes on to include deep TD catches, touchdown-springing blocks on special teams, and impressive kick returns involving half a dozen broken tackles that show off contact balance, lower body strength, and grit. Simmons has strong, soft hands, breaks his routes off well, solid speed, and uses that aforementioned balance to work through weaker tackle attempts at his lower body and remain upright. He can work out from the perimeter or the slot, and is an asset on special teams whether he has the rock or not. Junior year will be a big one for him as he attempts to up his game to a new level, climb up the 2025 rankings, and join his fellow ’25 WRs holding early college football scholarship offers. Man, I love this WR group.
