There are 11 running backs in the Top 100 and 19 running backs overall for the Class of 2024 in Missouri in the Prep Redzone database, which continues to grow every day.
Today we are taking a closer look at the top running backs. (Click on the player names to check out their prospect pages on PRZ, including links to their HUDL highlights.)
1. [player_tooltip player_id="185385" first="Jacorey" last="Love"], KC Center
Love, a 5-foot-10, 180-pounder, comes in at No. 26 overall in Missouri for the Class of 2024 after he racked up 1,697 total yards and 20 touchdowns during his standout sophomore season for Center.
He ran for 1,310 yards, averaging 10.2 yards per carry, and 17 touchdowns. He turned 14 receptions into 387 yards, a remarkable average of 27.6 yards per, and three more touchdowns.
2. [player_tooltip player_id="185425" first="Quin" last="Renfro"], Joplin
Renfro, a 6-0, 175-pounder, is the No. 36 overall prospect in Missouri in the sophomore class.
He recorded 905 total yards (754 rushing yards, 151 receiving yards) and scored eight touchdowns last fall.
3. [player_tooltip player_id="126202" first="Darius" last="(DJ) Jones"], Fort Zumwalt West
A speedy 5-10, 185-pounder, Jones impressed us at the National Football Foundation Showcase in St. Louis a year ago with his speed and athleticism. His play on the field as a sophomore backed up what we saw.
Jones racked up a team-high 1,002 total yards (514 rushing yards, 488 receiving yards) and scored 13 touchdowns, which tied for the team lead. He was the Jaguars' second-leading rusher, led the team in receptions (38) and receiving touchdowns (7) and was second in receiving yards.
4. [player_tooltip player_id="185380" first="Micah" last="Jo Barnett"], Liberty North
Barnett, a 5-8, 180-pounder, served as the backup to senior standout [player_tooltip player_id="217659" first="Cayden" last="Arzola"] and was one of the driving forces as Liberty North made a playoff run and finished second in Class 6.
Barnett racked up 1,089 total yards (933 rushing, 79 receiving) and scored 10 touchdowns.
With Arzola graduating and moving on to college, Barnett figures to see a much larger workload as a junior for a loaded Eagles squad that should be one of the best in Class 5 again.
5. [player_tooltip player_id="230439" first="Tanner" last="Howes"], Lee's Summit North
Howes, a 5-8, 160-pounder, is a little bit smaller than some of the other backs on this list, but he's explosive and strong and has a bright future.
Sharing carries with junior [player_tooltip player_id="177944" first="Quincey" last="Baker"], Howes recorded 1,043 total yards (805 rushing, 238 receiving) and scored nine touchdowns as Lee's Summit North advanced to the Class 6 semifinals.
Howes showed off his ability in the semifinal loss to CBC. He ran eight times for 67 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 35 yards and another score.
