Continue ReadingOn Sunday I covered a 7-on-7 event called Turf Wars at JSerra High in San Juan Capistrano. The event featured some of the top 7-on-7 teams in the state. I did not get a chance to take a close look at every team at the event, but I did see some excellent players, some up and coming stars and hundreds of spirited student-athletes competing at a high level.
Premium is a prominent 7-on-7 group in Los Angeles. They brought multiple teams to the event, the most notable being the “Trendsetters”. I got a chance to watch some of the Premium teams and here are players who stood out to me.
Jamari Johnson Jamari Johnson 6'5" | 250 lbs | TE Inglewood | 2023 State CA , 2023, Inglewood
When his team walked up, Johnson is the first guy that everybody noticed. He is a big guy at 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds. He lined up all over the field for Inglewood last season, primarily split out at receiver. He is listed as an athlete but I assume he will be a tight end at the next level. He moves well for his size, overpowers people on 50/50 balls and is sure handed. He was constantly engaged throughout the games and worked closely with the other players. He has 9 offers including Arizona, Florida State, Louisville and Michigan State.

Terrell Bradshaw Terrell Bradshaw 5'9" | 175 lbs | WR Inglewood | 2024 State CA , 2024, Inglewood
Bradshaw was one of the first players mentioned when I asked two coaches who stood out to them during the day and I agree. He was one of, if not the fastest player I saw at the entire event. He creates separation with his speed and knows how to find holes in zone coverages. He can make plays after the catch and is always a big play threat. Bradshaw has offers from Arizona State, Florida State, Maryland and Washington State.

Husan Longstreet, 2025, Inglewood
Longstreet was the lone quarterback for one of the Premium teams. He has a huge arm for a freshman and is already more built than some upperclassmen quarterbacks. He throws hard on intermediate routes and is very accurate for his age. He has a quick release and is really athletic, which doesn’t always show for quarterbacks in 7-on-7. He just transferred from Los Alamitos to Inglewood and will likely start, replacing Justyn Martin Justyn Martin 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Inglewood | 2022 State CA .

Kalayn Ellis, 2023, Inglewood
Ellis transferred to Inglewood from Lawndale and fit right in. He is 6-foot-3, on the thinner side at 175 pounds but has room to put on some size. Despite being skinny, he is a physical receiver isn’t afraid to use his body to box out defenders. He runs solid routes and has a large catch radius. He will be a guy who picks up some late offers before and during his senior season.

Dylan Mills Dylan Mills 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB San Clemente | 2024 State CA , 2024, JSerra
Mills was playing quarterback for one of the Premium teams at his home school. He throws a good ball and has a very smooth release. He can fit the ball into tight windows and knows when to be risky and when to be cautious with the football. He has an offer from Western Kentucky.

Delano Franklin Delano Franklin 5'11" | 175 lbs | ATH Bishop Amat | 2023 State CA , 2023, Bishop Amat
Franklin was one of the best receivers for any team at the event. His specialty is intermediate routes from the slot and making guys miss after the catch. He makes good adjustments at the top of routes to get open and you can tell he has put in the work taking lots of 1-on-1 reps in practice. He has good hands and makes difficult catches look easy. Franklin has offers from Georgia, Arizona, Arizona State and Louisville among others.

Pierce Clarkson Pierce Clarkson 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB St. John Bosco | 2023 State CA , 2023, St. John Bosco
Like some of the athletic quarterbacks, 7-on-7 football doesn’t properly showcase the real strengths of Clarkson. I saw him lead Bosco to a semifinal appearance at the Battle at the Beach tournament last summer and he was the quarterback of the Trendsetters. He has good velocity even on deep balls and constantly puts the ball in spaces where only his receiver can get to it. He had the game-winning touchdown pass against OC Elite 5 Star in the semifinals and he had to thread the needle to do so. Clarkson has 22 offers and will be the lone quarterback for the Braves this season.
