Today we are looking at the Omaha Westside Warriors and how they dominated their season. This year the Warriors went 11-1 along with going undefeated in their district. Here was their schedule.
@ Creighton Prep W 23-8
V.S Omaha North W 39-22
@ Papillion LaVista W 31-28
V.S. Papillion LaVista South W 47-19
V.S. Grand Island W 41-19
@ Millard North W 36-25
V.S. Norfolk W 41-10
V.S Bryan W by Forfeit
@ Benson W 59-8
V.S. Papillion LaVista South W 49-0
V.S. Burke W 42-3
V.S. Bellevue West W 41-26
V.S. Gretna L 7-3
The Warriors have dominated this season, they out scored their opponents by 296 points, overall they scored 452 points and only allowed 156 points. This absolute dominance is why they were so heavily favored this whole year especially after coming off the state championship last year. They had a dominate offense that could not stop scoring and their strong defense that stopped almost every team that challenged them.
Westside had a ton of play makers on all sides of the ball, I have a few here who really went off this year and showed off their abilities on the field.
OFFENSE
QB Anthony Rezac Anthony Rezac 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE 6’3, 180lbs
Class of 2024 Uncommitted
Anthony had a great season even though he shared QB privilege’s he still showed off with some great stats who has barely even gotten going yet. This season Anthony threw for 1,221 yards which lead to 19 touchdowns he threw 116 passes completing 79 of them and only throwing 1 interceptions. This is great for a sophomore and he will continue to succeed in the next few years.
QB Kolby Brown Kolby Brown 6'2" | 165 lbs | QB Omaha Westside | 2022 NE 6’2 165lbs
Class of 2022 Committed: Creighton (Golf)
Kolby shared QB time but still found a way to show out, He threw 55 completions out of 103 for 722 yards 9 touchdowns. He also only threw 2 interceptions this year showing off how talented he is.
RB Dominic Rezac Dominic Rezac 6'1" | 165 lbs | RB Omaha Westside | 2022 State NE 6’1 190lbs
Class of 2022 Committed: Airforce
Dominic has been a great running back like the rest of this offense he has dominated and been great. He ran the ball 211 times for 1,411 yards averaging 6.6 yards a carry for 17 touchdowns. Just the 6.6 yard stat is amazing. Any running back with a stat like that is doing it all right.
WR Grant Guyett Grant Guyett 6'0" | 190 lbs | WR Omaha Westside | 2022 State NE 6’0 186lbs
Class of 2022 Committed: Minnesota State
Grant lead Westside this year in receiving and he did great! With 54 receptions he scored 17 touchdowns. Along with those touchdowns comes 834 total receiving yards. This makes his average to be 15 yards a catch. Absolute dominance.
Defense
LB Tommy Connelly Tommy Connelly 6'0" | 185 lbs | LB Westside | 2022 State NE 6’1 195lbs
Class of 2022 Uncommitted
Tom has done something crazy this year and that is the amount of sacks he has gotten and tackles in general. Tommy finished the season with 86 total tackles and 6 sacks. Out of his tackles 7 of them were tackles for loss. He found the ball and stopped it.
DL Cole Haberman Cole Haberman 6'0" | 215 lbs | DL Omaha Westside | 2022 State NE 5’11 183lbs
Class of 2022 Uncommitted
This is crazy Cole Haberman Cole Haberman 6'0" | 215 lbs | DL Omaha Westside | 2022 State NE had 61 tackles however 17 were TFLs and 5 of those were sacks. The competition for DL is tough some of the lineman can look huge and even though he isn’t huge he showed he can get there and blow up any line man and he did all year.
DB Caleb Benning Caleb Benning 5'11" | ATH Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE 5’11 Uncommitted
Caleb is another sophomore that impressed this year. With 68 total tackles and 4 TFLs along with 4 INTs he really zoomed across the field. The amount of strength and skill it takes to be able to get tackles behind the line, and intercept is monument and a great asset for the team. He is someone I would look out for in the next few years.
