In this article, we will take a look at the top offensive players that reside in Philly or close to the Philly area no matter the class. With the 2020 season looming, here is the Preseason All-Philadelphia Team!
Quarterback
- Kyle McCord Kyle McCord 6'2" | 207 lbs | QB St Joes Prep | 2021 State PA – 6’3″, 204lbs, St.Joseph’s Prep, c/o 2021
The number two player in our 2021 prospect rankings and current Ohio State commit is an absolute no-brainer to represent Philly at the quarterback position. The pro-style Senior quarterback checks all the boxes any coach would want in his signal-caller. Astounding fundamentals and poise jump off the screen when watching the film, not to mention a rocket arm and quick release. McCord had a bevy of weapons to throw too at St.Joseph’s and he will likely have that and more at Ohio State.
Runningbacks
- Shoes Brinkley – 5’9″, 183lbs, Northeast, c/o 2021
- Jon-Luke Peaker – 5’9″, 187lbs, Northeast, c/o 2021
Hard to imagine the top two runningbacks in Philly both played on the same team, but this is the reality the Public-League had to face. Shoes Brinkley and Jon-Luke Peaker were terrors as a tandem. Brinkley, the more versatile player of the two, has the vision, patience, and toughness needed to be a downhill runner, while also having the pass-catching skills and elusiveness to make plays in space, which he often does. “Juke” Peaker is the thunder to Brinkley’s lightning as he provides a more powerful, north-and-south game. He isn’t just a bruiser, he displays breakaway speed and a ton of home-run hitting ability.
Wide Receivers
- Marvin Harrison Jr Marvin Harrison Jr 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR St Joes Prep | 2021 State PA . – 6’3″, 190lbs, St.Joseph’s, c/o 2021
- Malik Cooper Malik Cooper 5'9" | 165 lbs | WR St. Joseph's Preparatory School | 2021 State PA – 5’9″, 165lbs, St.Joseph’s, c/o 2021
- Sahmir Hagans Sahmir Hagans 5'9" | 175 lbs | WR St. Joseph's Preparatory School | 2021 State PA – 5’9″, 168lbs, St.Joseph’s, c/o 2021
- Kristen McAdams – 6’3″, 190lbs, Imhotep Institute, c/o 2021
Remember the bevy of weapons Kyle McCord Kyle McCord 6'2" | 207 lbs | QB St Joes Prep | 2021 State PA had to throw to we talked about above? Yeah, they consist of three out of the four top spots on this All-Philly team. The trio can also be argued to be the top three wideouts in all of Pennsylvania, with all three committing to big-time D1 programs. There is a lot of Michael Thomas is Marvin Harrison Jr Marvin Harrison Jr 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR St Joes Prep | 2021 State PA . and he will be joining McCord at Ohio State. Not to get lost on the St.Joes hype train is Imhotep’s Kristen McAdams. His size stands out, is an absolute monster in the red zone, and can go up with any defensive back in the state to snag a ball out of the air. Expect big offers and hype for this kid this upcoming season.
Tight Ends
- Daniel Jefferys Daniel Jefferys 6'2" | 197 lbs | TE Archbishop Wood | 2021 PA – 6’2″, 197lbs, Archbishop Wood, c/o 2021
- Naquil Betrand Naquil Betrand 6'6" | 285 lbs | OL West Catholic | 2022 PA – 6’6″, 225lbs, Imhotep Institute, c/o 2022
The tight end group isn’t exactly star-studded but here are two talented kids who could blossom into great players at the next level. Starting with Senior Daniel Jefferys Daniel Jefferys 6'2" | 197 lbs | TE Archbishop Wood | 2021 PA who resides just outside of Philly, Jefferys is a tad bit undersized and projects to be used as more of a wideout on offense or end on defense. He has a ton of work to do technically speaking. His routes are often rounded off and his blocking needs a ton of work, but he makes some splash plays here and there that make him stand out at Wood. Betrand, whos going to be a Junior this coming season, is a mammoth of a player and one hell of an athlete. He can do so many things on the field and if he can refine his game and polish his routes and body, he will garner a ton of attention next summer.
Offensive Line
- Tyler Needham Tyler Needham 6'4" | 265 lbs | OL William Penn Charter School | 2021 State PA – 6’4″, 265lbs, Penn Charter, c/o 2021
- Matthew Pajuste Matthew Pajuste 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Martin Luther King | 2021 State PA – 6’2″, 265lbs, Martin Luther King, c/o 2021
- Brad Harris Jr. Brad Harris Jr. 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL St. Joseph's Prep | 2022 State PA – 6’4″, 255lbs, St.Joseph’s, c/o 2022
The men amongst boys. All three of these players will call in the attention of scouts across the nation. Pajuste, a guard who has committed to Kent State, is a mauler who has incredible upper body strength and has some position versatility in him, as he has taken snaps at left tackle as well. Needham is a player who I believe deserves a little more attention. He is a prototypical anchor who can carry his weight well, showing quick and sure feet. He’s a player who excels in the run game, showing a great understanding of zone and man blocking schemes. Harris, an upcoming Junior, has all the potential in the world to be the best offensive lineman in all of Pennsylvania let alone Philadelphia so long as he continues to develop which is most likely a sure thing playing at St.Joseph’s.
