[player_tooltip player_id="22544" first="Chase" last="Silva"] is experiencing first-hand many of the things he’s heard from others who came before him about the recruiting process. For example, the Skyline quarterback has worked tirelessly to be the best player he can be and is thankfully heading into his senior season with a Division-I offer on the table. That initial overture came from the University of Eastern Kentucky. Once he hit that initial threshold, Silva then saw just how quickly other heads started turning in his direction to see what all the fuss is about. “It was super exciting and it had some of a surprise factor to it,” Silva said of receiving his offer from EKU. “I hadn’t talked to anyone from Eastern Kentucky before and one day I just had a text from a coach saying I had an offer. Then almost immediately after I posted it on Twitter – like that day – I had a bunch of other schools contacting me.” [caption id="attachment_25701" align="alignright" width="398"] [player_tooltip player_id="22544" first="Chase" last="Silva"][/caption]Once the initial offer was on the table, Silva said doors started opening for him and other schools like San Diego, Utah, Yale and Fresno State started to show interest. While he isn’t close to making a decision, Silva added that it’s a comforting feeling to see his recruitment start heating up given the uncertain times in which its happening. “I’d like to go to a school that has good programs for either business and engineering,” Silva said. “I’d also like to go to a school that has a nice campus and a great game-day atmosphere.” Many of the RMAC school have also offered Silva, according to Skyline head coach Mike Silva, who is not related to his rising senior quarterback. “He’s kind of in the thick of it and I think this time has not helped him,” Mike Silva said. “He can’t get to camps and talk to people who have expressed interest in seeing him play. It’s a tough time to be a recruit.” Just shy of 6-foot-1 and up to about 190 pounds, Silva has been the starting quarterback at Skyline since he took over for senior teammate Nate McGregor when he was injured early in the 2018 season. Silva Threw for 2,829 yards and 30 touchdowns to 10 interceptions while leading the Falcons to the 4A state championship game before finishing runners-up to Loveland. Silva posted similar numbers as a junior with 2,2283 yards and 31 touchdowns to eight interceptions and the Falcons lost in the first round of the playoffs. It wasn’t the statistical jump some were expecting but Mike Silva chalked that up to a slow start by the entire team. “I think being thrown in as a sophomore, he had a very talented senior class backing him up,” Mike Silva said. “I still think last year’s team was pretty dang good and with the right draw, could have had a lengthy playoff run as well. But it took them a while to gel and I think Chase, being the dude, tried to do everything and make things happen. But right around game four when we played Longmont he really took from there.” Apart from his high school team, Silva trains and plays with Warrior 7-on-7. He is currently ranked No. 28 overall in the Prep Redzone Colorado player rankings for the 2021 graduating class, and the third-ranked 2021 quarterback. https://twitter.com/ChaseSilv15/status/1247625019187851264
