Fast Rising 2025 Metro-Atlanta DBs

Even though the 2025 class is still three years away, it is never too early to take a look into the future. As it is with many other positions, the Metro-Atlanta area is flooded with talent in the defensive backfield. Numerous DBs have come out of this area. Most recently, [player_tooltip player_id="33861" first="Travis" last="Hunter"] in the 2022 class. There is plenty of talent to go around, so here we take a look at the guys with the potential to rise. Isiah Whitlock | 5’9 | Dacula Super aggressive and hard-hitting as a safety. Not just a hard hitter either. He is a form tackler, judging by his film, he rarely misses one. On top of that, he plays like a ballhawk on the back end. He is super long and lanky, so there are times where he plays corner on the outside. At corner, he is super disruptive without causing penalties. He knows how to use his length to lock up defenders and knock the ball loose. Clearly, a player that is wise beyond his age when it comes to football. When he adds some more weight, he can be a difference-maker at the varsity level. Xavier Hill | 5’10 | Harrison The majority of the film on him is at the QB spot, where he excels as a runner. His athleticism and ability to run means that his future is likely at a skill position. More specifically, at DB or WR. Playing the QB position will naturally make him better at being able to read and process what the offense is doing, especially at DB. His athleticism paired with his football IQ is going to open some eyes over the next couple of years. It will be fun to see where he ends up after high school, but DB is certainly a possibility. Tobi Adewoyin | 6’0 | Milton Playmaker. When you watch Tobi on film, he just simply makes plays. Whether he lines up on offense or defense, he is a handful for the opposing team. Defensively, he plays within himself and comes downhill without overpursuing. He plays like a ball hawk and has great ball skills. His skill set fits that of a safety, which is where he plays in high school. On offense, you can see his short bursts of acceleration and his athleticism. Both of those things translate to both sides of the ball. He has already visited major D1 schools, so expect him to be a guy to watch over the next few years. Chandler Jordan | 6’0 | North Gwinnett From a physical standpoint, Jordan is as good as it gets for a DB of this age. First of all, he is extremely well built. When you look at him, you would not think he is just a freshman in high school. He also plays downhill and is a very aggressive player. For those two reasons, he gets moved all around the field. Sometimes he will line up at a natural safety position, but other times he will line up at nickel or play close to the line of scrimmage. Players with his versatility and his many attributes are a hot commodity for college coaches, and Jordan is no different. Grant Thompson | 5’11 | North Atlanta Thompson is a natural corner. It is very clear that his future is at that position. He is very disruptive and knows how to use his hands without getting too aggressive. For that reason, he is able to knock the ball away from would-be pass catchers. Thompson is very fundamentally sound, it is clear he is wise beyond his age when it comes to football. He can flip his hips and run with any WR. Creating any space against him is a tall task for every WR that faces him. Thompson is as close to a finished product as you can get for a freshman CB. That paired with the passion and intensity he plays with is going to take him a long way.
