An unranked prospect in Pennsylvania’s 2028 class who immediately caught my attention while I was working through his team’s Hudl roster in search of new names. He is listed at 6’2, although I haven’t been able to confirm his current weight. He is a four sport athlete who contributes at offensive guard and defensive end, giving him an intriguing combination of physical development, athletic versatility and experience in the trenches. Unfortunately, his Twitter is completely quiet, with no clips or posts showcasing his production from this season. That is disappointing for a player with this kind of potential, especially considering he has already assembled a two minute midseason highlight reel on Hudl, uploaded just eight days ago. That film will serve as the foundation for my first evaluation, and I hope he becomes more proactive about getting his name and production in front of college coaches.
His opening rep features him aligned outside the shoulder of an offensive tackle against what appears to be a spread formation. He demonstrates an understanding of defensive line movement, working a stunt with his interior teammate before pursuing the quarterback. What immediately stands out is his motor and willingness to fight through multiple obstacles to finish the play. He has to work through an offensive guard and then deal with a running back attempting to chip him, yet neither prevents him from continuing his pursuit. He eventually tracks down the quarterback and records a sack approximately 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage. I love the effort here, particularly how he continues working after the initial blocking action fails to produce an immediate opening. That kind of persistence is important for an edge defender, and it is an encouraging trait to see this early in an evaluation.
His second rep provides another look at his defensive end responsibilities against a zone read concept. He shows patience rather than immediately abandoning his assignment, maintains his positioning, engages the blocker and eventually sheds to pursue the ball carrier downhill. What initially looks like an opportunity for the offense to move the chains turns into a gain of approximately four yards because of his ability to remain disciplined and finish the play. I appreciate seeing that he can contribute against the run rather than simply relying on his athletic ability to rush the passer. Later in the tape, he aligns head up over an offensive guard, demonstrating some additional positional versatility along the defensive front. He uses his hands effectively to work through the block, closes the distance to the quarterback in a hurry and finishes with another sack. His ability to generate pressure from different alignments is particularly encouraging, and it gives me more confidence in projecting him as a defensive end moving forward.
Another rep reinforces that projection, with him working from the edge and demonstrating the strength to control an offensive blocker. He does get a little high coming out of his stance, something I would like to see cleaned up as he continues developing his technique, but he still manages to establish control, steer the blocker and maintain the edge. Once the quarterback moves into his area, he disengages and nearly comes away with his third sack of the highlight reel. I like his ability to manipulate the blocking relationship rather than simply trying to run around the offensive tackle. There is some legitimate strength and awareness here, and the technical improvements he still needs to make are relatively encouraging when considering how productive he already appears to be.
One of the most impressive recurring themes throughout this tape is how little additional blocking attention seems to slow him down. Offensive coordinators are attempting to account for him with tight end chips, running back assistance and combinations of blockers, yet he continues finding ways to create pressure. His fifth rep demonstrates that again, with a tight end and running back combining to help protect against him but failing to neutralize his pursuit. I appreciate that he doesn’t appear discouraged when offenses devote extra resources to blocking him. He continues working his hands, fighting through contact and pursuing the quarterback until the play is finished. That combination of effort, physicality and pass rushing production makes him an interesting developmental prospect, particularly considering he is still an underclassman with time to refine his technique and continue adding strength.
Based on this initial midseason evaluation, I believe he is already showing the traits of a recruitable defensive end, and that is where I intend to evaluate and rank him moving forward. His 6’2 frame, four sport background, positional versatility and ability to create pressure despite additional blocking attention give him an encouraging foundation. I still want to confirm his weight, evaluate a larger collection of reps and see how consistently he can maintain leverage coming out of his stance. However, the upside is apparent, and I believe there is a strong case for adding him to our rankings. My biggest recommendation is that he begin sharing his film on Twitter and making himself more visible within the recruiting landscape. He already has a quality midseason reel available, and the production is worth showcasing. This is a very promising new discovery with legitimate developmental upside, and I’m excited to continue evaluating him as more film becomes available.
