An unranked senior running back currently listed at 5’8, 175 pounds, and a completely new name to me until recently. I discovered him while working through his team’s Hudl roster and evaluating some of his teammates, hoping to uncover additional prospects who might have slipped through the cracks. He is a District 3 running back who also contributes as a kick returner, and based on the production I’ve found, I believe he deserves serious consideration for a spot in our rankings. I would particularly like to get him evaluated sooner rather than later, considering he is already in his senior season and has limited time remaining to get his name in front of college coaches.
One thing I immediately appreciate is how consistently he has been uploading film throughout the season. He has made a clear effort to get his name out there, posting individual game cutups almost every week on both Twitter and Hudl. His production has been encouraging, including a game toward the end of September in which he accumulated more than 150 all purpose yards through his rushing and kick return responsibilities. He followed that with a rushing performance of more than 220 yards in early October, demonstrating that he is capable of handling a substantial offensive workload and generating significant production on the ground. Most recently, he posted another individual game cutup yesterday after recording more than 180 all purpose yards this past week. Those are impressive numbers for a senior who is still working to establish himself within the recruiting landscape.
I applaud him for being proactive with his film and consistently sharing his accomplishments, but I would strongly encourage him to put together a complete midseason highlight reel as soon as possible. He clearly has enough quality production to assemble a substantial collection of his best reps, yet much of that footage is currently scattered across individual game uploads. That makes the evaluation process more time consuming than it needs to be, particularly for college coaches who may only have a few minutes to determine whether a prospect deserves further attention. I can find plenty of encouraging statistics and individual highlights, but I don’t want to assign a ranking based on three plays from one game or a handful of isolated performances. I need to see a more complete representation of his rushing ability, vision, acceleration, contact balance and effectiveness as a kick returner.
His previous second team All County recognition is another encouraging part of his profile, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him earn additional postseason accolades considering the yardage he has accumulated this fall. There is clearly something worth evaluating here. A District 3 senior who can produce 220 rushing yards in a game, contribute significant all purpose yardage and provide value on special teams deserves attention. I want to determine how consistently he creates those opportunities, how much of his production comes from his individual ability and what kind of collegiate projection makes the most sense for a player with his measurements. A consolidated highlight reel would help answer those questions and give me a much stronger foundation for assigning an appropriate grade.
I believe this is a rankable prospect, and I’m hoping to get him into our senior rankings once I have enough organized film to conduct a proper evaluation. His effort to promote himself has been excellent, and the production certainly warrants a closer look. At this stage of his high school career, making his best film easily accessible is particularly important because every remaining opportunity to attract college interest matters. I’ll continue checking his Hudl and Twitter for updates, but I would love to see him upload a complete best reps compilation in the near future. There is enough here to be excited about, and I want to make sure his production receives the recognition it deserves before his senior season comes to an end.
