Week 9 action unfolded throughout the state on Friday night. Numerous contests had significant impacts on district races. Here is the Week 9 scoreboard:

-- Volcano and Eldorado remained tied atop District 6A-2 with identical 5-0 marks after both teams won on Friday. Volcano Vista held off Las Cruces, 28-14, at Community Stadium, while Eldorado outlasted Clovis at Leon Williams Stadium. If both teams win next weekend, they would meet in Week 11 in a winner-take-all district championship game.

-- Roswell went to the Bulldog Bowl and beat rival Artesia convincingly. Roswell takes control of District 5A-2 and will likely be the No. 1 seed fo the Class 5A playoffs.

-- Santa Fe and Alamogordo both picked up wins tonight and took a step closer towards securing Class 5A berths.

-- St. Pius X beat Belen tonight in a shootout at Eagles Stadium. The Sartans have control of District 4A-2.

-- Piedra Vista scored a late TD to edge Los Lunas in the Four Corners and now controls its own destiny in District 5A-1.
