Here we recap the action from Saturday’s slate of Class 2A, 4A & 6A Championship games.
Tullahoma Creates History w/ Victory over Elizabethton
The best game down in Chattanooga happened right here between the Wildcats and Fighting Cyclones as both these Class 4A teams battled and fought til the very end where Tullahoma came out on top as they beat Elizabethton, 21-14 in Double Overtime.
It was an interception by senior (Ath) Krys Uselton in the end zone that sealed the victory for the Wildcats and earned them their 1st ever state championship in school’s history.

To win this championship, Tullahoma had to scratch and claw their way to the finish line as the Fighting Cyclones would not go away and even had a chance at winning this game prior to overtime. Senior (QB)

was a force all day for his Cyclones team and he had the ball with less than 2 minutes to go and a chance to push his team to victory but the Wildcats defense stood tough and pushed the game into extra play.
Both Tullahoma and Elizabethton traded touchdowns to open the overtime period until Uselton came up with the big interception. That turnover sealed the deal on what was easily the best game of the weekend and a came that unfortunately, somebody had to lose.
This win for Tullahoma would not have happened without the stellar play of senior quarterback Ryan Scott Ryan Scott 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Tullahoma | 2022 TN . The 6’2 poised passer controlled and managed his offense very well and did everything he could to keep his team in the game and within striking distance until they finished things off in overtime.
It might have taken longer to get the win but Tullahoma is more than happy with how things finished as they get to return home as Class 4A State Champions and for head coach John Olive, who has been with the Wildcats for 29 years, it’s extra sweet and a moment in life nobody who dawns the maroon and white will ever forget.
Chargers Handle Hampton w/ Ease For 2A Title
The storybook season for the Westview Chargers ended in grand fashion on Saturday afternoon as the West Tennessee program started out slow but quickly exploded for a 55-14 beat down of Hampton for the Class 2A State Championship.
The 1st quarter was much about feeling each other out and it didn’t take long for the Chargers to gain a grasp for what the Bulldog team was doing. Hampton started out on fire, scoring the 1st points of the game, leading 7-0 after a 9 minute drive. The Bulldogs would score again on their next possession but that would be the final points of the game for Hampton as Westview finally woke up.
For the Chargers offense, they immediately clicked with Alabama commit Ty Simpson Ty Simpson 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Westview | 2022 State TN running the show and pushing his offense down the field quickly. Even when Hampton would score early in the 1st quarter, Simpson and his offense would respond each time and eventually would take over the game.

Simpson distributed the ball evenly throughout the game, finding several targets like Javion Goins,

, Dearca Nicholson to get the ball to and allow his playmakers to make plays.
After Westview took the lead in the 2nd quarter, the game was virtually over. The Chargers defense locked in on the option style offense that Hampton runs and the Westview offense did not take the foot off the pedal.
Throughout the 2nd half, you saw Hampton try to move the ball at no success while the Chargers continued to pour on the points. It was a dominating victory for Westview in what was a very successful year for the Chargers program that ended with their 1st ever state football title.
The move down to the 2A level paid off in a big way for Westview as they are now champions and have a great building block to build upon for the future of the Chargers football program.
Powerhouse Clash Goes to Oakland
Oakland versus Summit was the game that everybody in this state had been waiting for all season long and while the game turned out to be quite entertaining, it didn’t live up to the status that everybody put on it as the Patriots were not phased by the Spartans on their way to a 43-26 win and yet another Class 6A State Title.
The game did start out pretty tight as it took some time both for teams to feel each other out. The Patriots defense needed to get a grasp for the speed and talent of Spartans quarterback Destin Wade Destin Wade 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Summit | 2022 State TN and they definitely got a taste of that early as the Kentucky commit ran with ease and directed his offense to a few early touchdowns.

Once the Pats defense got acclimated to Wade and how the Spartans were doing things on offense, they adjusted accordingly and quickly starting taking control of the game.
The Oakland defense started keying on Wade and stopping the Spartans on early downs, forcing the 3-star prospect to throw the ball and it ended up working in the Patriots favor. Once they were able to throttle down the Spartans offense, Oakland began taking over, helped by a potent rushing attack.
The two headed monster in Jordan James and Antonio Patterson Antonio Patterson 5'11" | 190 lbs | ATH Oakland | 2022 State TN were spectacular on Saturday night. Both of these backs displayed tremendous talent in a variety of ways from first down gains to breakaway runs for touchdowns, besides the defensive adjustments, James and Patterson was the difference in the game.

After Oakland took the lead in the 2nd quarter, the Summit Spartans had to fight back the rest of the way but just didn’t have enough, especially over on defense where they couldn’t slow down James or Patterson nor keep their quarterback Kade Hewitt in check.
The Oakland staff made it a point to run away from star linebacker Keaten Wade Keaten Wade 6'4" | 215 lbs | LB Summit | 2022 State TN as much as they could and not allow the Kentucky commit to become an impact on the game. They succeeded as Wade was more impactful over on offense at running back but this is a talented guy that will be playing NFL ball on day.
This is back to back state championships now for Oakland and their 3rd in the last four years. This title is pretty sweet as they beat a very good Summit team that many felt was the best on the Class 6A level but nope that’s the Oakland Patriots and they let everybody know that inside Finley Stadium on Saturday night.
