We are two games deep into the season and it has already been a crazy start with numerous early upsets as teams scramble to get their best eleven lined up and playing in synch as soon as possible.

There are many aspects of the game that need to be fine-tuned during the regular season and one of the key areas of emphasis is the QB-Receiver Connection.

Some teams have the luxury of multiple top-end options to go to but for many teams the quarterback and his primary target - be it TE, WR, RB or All-Purpose Back - develop a locked-in connection to help shift the offense into turbo mode.

In this report we will take a look at some standout QB-Receiver Connections that are ready for the spotlight.

So, without further adieu, let's check these guys out:

THE HESSTON CONNECTION:

[player_tooltip player_id='1579585' first='Jerick' last='Humphreys'] , 6'1, 200, QB, Hesston, '27, [PICTURED] he has led his team to a 2-0 start after defeating Hoisington 23-16 last Friday. In those two games he has played a hot hand, completing 27 of 40 passes for 404 yards, completing 68%, with 4 TD passes and zero picks. He is coming off a breakthrough season as a junior last year when he completed 94 of 137 attempts, for 1,349 yards, completing 69%, and had 12 touchdown passes to only three interceptions. So far in the '26 season he has developed a dangerous connection with the playmaker below .

[player_tooltip player_id='1113257' first='Gavin' last='Larson'] , 6'0, 195, WR/LB/ATH, '27, this multi-positional baller got off to a fast start teaming with Humphreys in the season opener and then followed up with another sizzling game against Hoisington last week, catching 15 passes for 273 yards, averaging 19 yards a catch and scored 4 TDs, including a 91-yard score in those two games. He was also busy on the other side of the ball with 7 tackles and 2 interceptions.

THE WASHINGTON CONNECTION:

Benito Morell, 5'11, 165, QB, KC Washington, '28, this first-year starter has stepped right in to lead the high-octane Wildcat offense, winning the first two games by a combined score of 104-0, while completing 29 of 51 passes for 577 yds, completing 58%, for 8 TD passes and zero picks. Last Friday he had 405 APY and 5 TDs and also hooked up with the guy below who is one of the most lethal threats in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='1125716' first='CamRon' last='Fields'] , 5'10, 185, WR/RB/ATH, KC Washington, '27, last Friday he had a monster game, catching 11 passes for 312 yards, rushing for 75 more and scoring a jaw-dropping 7 TDs. He has picked up where he left off last year when he was a one-man wrecking crew, catching 63 passes for 1,281 yards, rushing for 860 more and piling up 2,487 APY and 14 TDs.

THE SACRED HEART CONNECTION:

[player_tooltip player_id='1530356' first='Maddox' last='Wells'] , 5'10, 165, QB, Sacred Heart, '27, he has led his team to a 2-0 start after last Friday's 26-0 win over Ellsworth. Along the way he put up impressive numbers, completing 21 of 32 for 471 yds, completing 66%, with 4 TD passes and 0 picks. He also added 194 yards rushing on 26 carries and four more TDs to give him 665 APYs and 8 TDs so far this fall. He looks to be even more dangerous this year after an impressive junior year when he accounted for 1,800+ APYs and 20 TDs. So far this year he has developed a promising connection with the baller below.

Dominic Matteucci, 5'10, 170, WR/RB/ATH, Sacred Heart, '27, he is a dangerous hybrid back-receiver who has caught 11 passes for 211 yds, 18+ per catch and one touchdown, and rushed 19 times for 168 yards and 2 TDs to give him 374 APYs and 3 TDs to start the season. On the other side of the ball he has 8 tackles, one tackle for loss, an interception and a fumble recovery.

THE SPRING HILL CONNECTION:

[player_tooltip player_id='2351303' first='Blace' last='Rodina'], 6'0, 165, QB, Spring Hill, '29, this young gun is off and running helping lead his team to a 2-0 mark so far this year after dispatching Turner 60-14 last Friday. Through two games this year he has been sharp, completing 19 of 26 passes for 356 yds, completing 73%, for 6 TDs and zero picks. With two lop-sided wins to date there has not been a lot of time to develop his receiver connections, but it appears he has a developing weapon in the baller below.

[player_tooltip player_id='2351309' first='Cameron' last='Wells'], 6'2, 170, WR, Spring Hill, '27, he has been flying under the radar somewhat but after torching the turf for 193 yards on only 6 receptions, averaging 30+ yards per catch and scoring 3 touchdowns, this playmaker is stepping up at the right time for a team on the rise.

In conclusion, get out and watch these guys sizzle this fall. And, as always, give me a shout via DM on X if you run across any under the radar guys. Keep grindin'...

We are two games deep into the season and it has already been a crazy start with numerous early upsets as teams scramble to get their best eleven lined up and playing in synch as soon as possible.
