With that, we have many positional matchups that will likely decide the course of these games. Take a took at 4 player vs player matchups in the state championships.
DT Terence Maize Terence Maize 5'11" | 290 lbs | DL Detroit King | 2022 State MI (King) vs G Tyler Nordmann (DeWitt)
Two very good big boys are matching up on Saturday night, and this is an opportunity for both of these athletes to bolster their stock. Maize stands at 6’1 280 whole Nordmann stands at 6’6 300. The size matchup would have you believe these are two division 1 superstars going at it. There’s truly a ton on the line for these two seniors and I can’t wait to evaluate both of them.
WR Jeremiah Caldwell Jeremiah Caldwell 6'3" | 175 lbs | ATH Belleville | 2022 State MI (Belleville) vs DB Christian Schomer (Adams)
Caldwell is a special talent that will be going to a B1G 10 or SEC team, while Schomer is coming off an incredible game against some great receiver talent. Last week the big question was if Adams could defend well against the elite passing offense of Grand Blanc, and they surely got it done. On the other side, Belleville has proved time and time again that their elite receiver talent can make plays against just about anybody.
WR Triston Nichols (De La Salle) vs DB Carson Bourdo (Traverse City Central)
A run after the catch or deep threat, Nichols has proven himself to be a weapon in the De La Salle offense scoring a couple of touchdowns last week. On the other end, Bourdo is a Saginaw Valley commit with a very high work ethic and high upside. This is the best talent either of them has faced up to this point and will be a true showcase of both of their talent levels.
MLB Nolan Sinkwitts (Chelsea) vs QB Cam Chandler (Unity Christian)
The Chandler brothers have been on a tear with Unity Christian and they threaten the state’s all-time single-season scoring record. They don’t need much to break this record, but they’ve got a force with Sinkwitts standing in their way. I’m looking for Sinkwitts to have great reaction time and I want him to be a speeding bullet to the ball every single play. Both players play incredibly hard and have great work ethic but the thing is, only one can come out on top.
