The Skyhawks went through a tough 2-8 season in 2025 after years of success, which marked the final year of Jeremy Dolin's run as head coach. Dolin's tenure saw much success for the program, making the transition an important one for Scott. Despite the record, there were some positive moments throughout the season that the Skyhawks can look back on and build from even after graduating many key pieces from that team. Nick Mullins now takes over the program and will look to build Scott back into a perennial playoff contender.

Scott will have plenty of young faces taking on bigger roles in 2026 as Nick Mullins begins building toward the future. The Skyhawks may take some lumps along the way, but there is a lot of talent in the underclassmen ranks that gives the program reason for optimism. It could take a couple of years for Scott to get back to where it wants to be, but this season should provide an early look at what the next group can become. Expect some of that young talent to start making its presence felt as the Skyhawks take the first steps toward rebuilding the program.

Coming off a strong first season at Scott, 2027 LB/FB Cooper Grant enters his senior year as one of the Skyhawks' key returning players. Grant transferred in from Van and quickly made an impact, earning the team's Defensive Player of the Year honors as a junior. He brings a sturdy frame and physical approach that fits well at linebacker while also giving Scott a tough presence at fullback. There isn't film available to evaluate yet, but the recognition he received last season speaks to the impact he made. Grant will be one of the leaders of this young Scott team and someone that they will heavily lean on.

Standing at 6'4 260, 2027 Scott OL/DL Eli Gillispie gives the Skyhawks a big returning presence in the trenches. Gillispie will anchor the offensive line while also playing an important role along the defensive line, giving Scott a proven two-way player to lean on up front. He has good size and plenty of physical upside as a college prospect who should garner next-level attention in his senior season. Gillispie is one of the more under-the-radar linemen to know in Class AA, but that may not be the case for long. Keep a close eye on him this season.

Another experienced piece returning up front for Scott is 2027 OL/DL Charlie Ball, who will be counted on to help lead a young group in the trenches. Ball started at guard as a junior and brings valuable varsity experience to an offensive line that will have several younger players stepping into bigger roles. He has the quickness to pull and get out in space and has good footwork. Ball gives the Skyhawks stability up front and should be an important leader as this young line develops together.

BREAKOUT CANDIDATE

One of the young players Scott will look to play a major role in 2026 is 2029 ATH Drake Daniels. Daniels can line up at just about any skill position, but running back appears to be his primary role this season after seeing time at receiver as a freshman. He'll likely still see reps at wideout while also taking on an important role at linebacker, giving the Skyhawks a young athlete they can move around the field. Daniels may not be a familiar name yet, but this season should begin his emergence as one of Scott's top playmakers over the next three years.
