Blake Waltman, Zach Cochnauer Zach Cochnauer 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL Farmington | 2022 State MN , Ritter Cook Ritter Cook 6'3" | 275 lbs | OL Farmington | 2022 MN , Cohen Oelke, Gabe Bombardier Gabe Bombardier OL Farmington | 2022 State MN Farmington OL
The Tigers’ offensive line did what it wanted when it wanted against the Rangers’ defense. They paved the way to nearly 400 yards on the ground and just short of 500 yards of total offense. Waltman and Cochnauer opened a hole early in the game. Oelke and Bombardier opened a big hole on a counter. Cochnauer, Cook, and Oelke – the center of the offensive line – was overpowering on the night. The running game was good everywhere, but especially up the middle. I don’t believe they gave up a quarterback sack or even much in the way of a quarterback pressure.
Rod Finley Rod Finley ATH Farmington | 2022 State MN Farmington RB
Finley was the primary benefactor of the offensive line’s night. Finley is a patient runner. Many times, he would allow his blocking to get set up before making his move. He took a direct snap for a one-yard touchdown. Then, that patience and good footwork were showcased, working his way through a small hole on the left side for ten yards. He showed footwork and balance when he broke a tackle in the backfield to break free and score a 21-yard touchdown. He used his quick feet on a draw. After getting to the second level – up the middle – he made a pair of defenders miss. He broke a tackle on his final touchdown run and powered his way through a couple of defenders for an eleven-yard touchdown.
Cole Brisbois Cole Brisbois ATH Forest Lake | 2022 State MN Forest Lake RB
While the Forest Lake offense struggled through most of the game, Brisbois showed some flashes. He has decent speed to get around the corner. His vision and footwork allowed him to bounce a run to the outside to pick up a first down. He took an end-around on a fake punt. He got hit on the sidelines during the play, and excellent balance almost allowed him to stay inbounds long enough to get the first down. He was a threat in the passing game as well. He caught a middle screen and sprinted 73-yards for a touchdown – the Rangers’ only score against the Tigers’ first-team defense.
Connor Weed Connor Weed 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Farmington | 2022 State MN Farmington QB
Weed is a dual-threat quarterback, a willing and effective runner who averaged nearly ten yards a carry Friday night. With his arm, he made a strong throw across the field on an out pattern for a first down on fourth and eight. His best throw was a ball he dropped into the bucket on a go route to Brody Hanley Brody Hanley 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Farmington | 2022 State MN . The perfectly thrown pass down the sidelines would result in a 44-yard touchdown. Later in the game, he hit a crossing route throwing the ball across the field for 40 yards.
Ben Buesgens Ben Buesgens ATH Farmington | 2022 State MN Farmington WR
Buesgens was used mainly on the ground Friday night. He used a spin move to pick up ten yards. Running a counter, the designed play was not going to work, so he cut to the outside and down the sidelines for a big gain. Later, he used a great cut to give him space on the outside.
