Washington updated 2027 rankings: Discussing 26-40

The <a href="https://prepredzone.com/washington/rankings/2027-watch-list/" data-type="link" data-id="https://prepredzone.com/washington/rankings/2027-watch-list/">Washington class of 2027 rankings have been updated</a> and Jordan Johnson and I are pouring out content highlighting the top players in the state.   While 1-10 was filled with double-digit FBS offer guys, the 26-40 list is a collection of raw athletes who could pop, late bloomers and a few players who we are higher on than the rest of the industry.   Here's a look at players 26-40 - with my thoughts on them as recruits.   26. OL/DL [player_tooltip player_id='1599614' first='Ben' last='Rainwater'], Inglemoor (Boise State) —The 6-foot-6, 260-pound offensive tackle was one the most hotly-debated prospects on this list.   Here's what Jordan Johnson had to say about him in his write-up:   “Many would have Rainwater higher than #26, but I think he's in the #20-30 range with all due respect. He did have an outstanding junior year, but the competition is questionable.”    Personally, I would have Rainwater higher.    Why?   The offensive tackle position is highly valuable, and while still raw, Rainwater has the size and athleticism to develop into a premium offensive tackle.   That carried added value for me.   Still, I do think I'd like to see Rainwater in a “good-on-good” camp setting.   A dominant senior tape is a must, and would move him up some spots in the final list.    27. WR [player_tooltip player_id='685276' first='Sirjewel' last='Glover'], Rainier Beach (Washington State) —The first-team all-Metro pick already entered the offseason with a ton of hype, but his 4.42 40 was a major eye-opener.   Adding overall MVP at the Idaho camp was yet another major feather in his cap.   It's hard to get that type of speed outside the Power 4, but Washington State managed it by securing Glover's commitment.   If his current momentum carries over into his senior year, his recruitment could hit another gear.    28. RB [player_tooltip player_id='1892954' first='Jayvian' last='Ferrell'], Lake Stevens (Uncommitted) — Ferrell was nearly unstoppable last fall, averaging nearly a first down every time he toted the rock (9.9 yards per carry).   The totals? 1,764 yards and 24 touchdowns.    It was one of the biggest success stories of the year.   What will he have in store for the state of Washington this year?    A 2,000-yard campaign could be on the horizon.   Ferrell deserves more recruiting attention and it feels like he'll have some late Division I buzz brewing based on another likely monster year.    29. DL/LB [player_tooltip player_id='584671' first='Julius' last='Hernandez-Avila'], Graham-Kapowsin (Uncommitted) — The reigning SPSL Defensive Player of the Year returns for what should be a monster campaign.   He registered 75 tackles and four sacks last season.   Graham-Kapowsin should be stellar this year, and Hernandez-Avila will be thrust into the spotlight.   It should be an opportunity for college football programs to offer him a scholarship, because so far his on-field performance doesn't match the offer sheet.    30. DB/WR [player_tooltip player_id='1530872' first='Jordan' last='Noel'], Kennedy Catholic (Uncommitted) — The resume is impressive: two-time all-league defensive back, all-league wide receiver, DB MVP Avery Showcase, DB MVP New Mexico, 4.43 40-yard dash.   Noel has four scholarship offers, but it feels like a further breakout - based on a tremendous offseason - could be looming.   There are several guys on this list who will push to jump into the top 20 with a big senior campaign.    31. ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1368334' first='Elijah' last='Carney'], Lincoln (Eastern Washington) — Carney has experienced a unique recruitment - with early offers from Oregon and Tennessee.   Since then, he's picked up a collection of FBS offers from Group of 6 and FCS schools.   His stock has bounced up and down a bit, but he appears to have found the right fit with Eastern Washington.    32. WR [player_tooltip player_id='1679407' first='Seth' last='Price'], Lake Stevens (Idaho) —The first-team all-state receiver hauled in 14 touchdowns last season.   Price is an excellent route runner with enough speed to blow by people and his commitment to Idaho could be a massive steal for the Vandals.   He looks like he could be a player that contributes early in Moscow.    33. TE [player_tooltip player_id='1599631' first='Ashton' last='Pillard'], Sumner (Uncommitted) — The 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end feels like he's ready to make a massive jump statically.   While he's been a big contributor for the two-time state champs, a leap from his 20-catch, 300-yard, 1-touchdown season is likely on the horizon.   Pillard is hearing from high-end FCS programs and several Group of 6 schools.   He's one of the few uncommitted prospects in the top-35, but a Division I certainty feels like a lock.   34. WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1368366' first='Malik' last='Burns'], Graham-Kapowsin (Eastern Washington) — The 6-foot-1, 190-pound pass-catcher hauled in 52 receptions for 739 yards and 11 touchdowns.   After a stellar camp season in which he picked up MVP awards, Burns became a massive priority to Eastern Washington and committed to them earlier this month.   His stock has risen significantly this off-season and, like a few others in this class, a big senior season should underscore his obvious progress.    35. OL [player_tooltip player_id='1369680' first='Dalton' last='Stevens'], Mark Morris (Uncommitted) — Stevens has been wildly productive his entire high school career.    Through three seasons he has been a first-team all-league selection each year and is among the top interior offensive linemen in the entire state.   Stevens, who has allowed just 1.5 sacks in three years, should make it a fourth consecutive all-league showing, putting a bow on a special four-year run.   Stevens is currently uncommitted, but has a few small school offers.   Western Oregon has been elite at picking out offensive linemen in recent years, and they've offered, which only gives me further belief that a late surge could be in order.    I like Stevens a lot - and would probably have him a few ticks higher on my own personal list.    36. EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='1659062' first='Parker' last='Stewart'], Kelso (Uncommitted) — The versatile 6-foot-4, 220-pound two-way lineman has been a productive piece wherever he lines up.   Stewart's brother, Payton, is at Michigan State, and Stewart possesses some of those same high-upside traits.   Color us intrigued.    There could be more to come from him if he has a late surge.    37. ATH [player_tooltip player_id='2213874' first='William' last='Wilson'], Archbishop Murphy (Uncommitted) — Jordan Johnson was a big early proponent of Wilson, and he deserves credit.   With a lot of talent graduating from Archbishop Murphy, Wilson should take on a heightened role this year and will likely show why the Big Sky programs have been all over him this offseason.    38. LB [player_tooltip player_id='2158450' first='Adonai' last='Ve'e'], Kentwood (Uncommitted) — Ve'e is a solid linebacker who is a traditional thumper.   So far, is recruitment hasn't blown up the way he wrecks ball-carriers, but the tape is quality and he feels like an old-school ‘backer.    39. WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1733964' first='Daniel' last='Haynes'], Rainier Beach (Uncommitted) — A strong offseason with Ford Sports Performance has me intrigued.   The 6-foot-3, 190-pound athlete has a Division I frame and made our preseason first-team all-state list for Washington last season.   40. DB/WR  [player_tooltip player_id='1792192' first='Raymond' last='Preston Lagat'], Graham-Kapowsin (Portland State) — Lagat has climbed dozens of spots in our rankings over the past six months and is one of the top breakout players in the entire state.    The Heir Academy product earned an Avery Showcase DB MVP award and picked up offers from Eastern Washington and Portland State during the camp circuit and ultimately chose the Vikings.    Portland State has been generating more praise for its recruiting prowess from high school coaches, and Lagat is a success story from that improved effort.
