The leaves are changing and the temperature is reaching frigid levels, and you may be in Northern Michigan this weekend for the beautiful nature. Why not see some playoff football? Here are 4 Northern Michigan games to watch this week, with 2 in the upper peninsula.
Games to Watch
Frankfort @ Iron Mountain (D8) – Matt Stefanski headlines the Frankfort talent, as the Panthers make the LONG trip up to Iron Mountain, which borders Wisconsin. Frankfort has been good, ending the regular season 6-3, though they’re on a 2-game skid they hope to recover from. Iron Mountain also comes in at 6-3, and they’re on a nice 3-game win streak up to this point. Hunter Fortner is a name to watch for them this week.
Boyne City @ Grayling (D6) – Two very good teams are facing off this Friday in Grayling. Boyne City is 8-1 and is on a 4-game losing streak, with an extra week of rest because of a forfeit last week. RB Bobby Hoth and FS Kaden Jewett are names to watch for the Ramblers. As for Grayling, they’re 7-2 and on a 4-game winning streak with some close wins in the mix. As for talent, RB David Millikin David Millikin 5'10" | 200 lbs | RB Grayling | 2022 MI and CB Marcus Chard are names to watch.
Calumet @ Menominee (D6) – Another game bordering Wisconsin, Calumet travels to Menominee for a great upper peninsula matchup. Calumet is 7-2 and they haven’t lost since week 2 of the season, and they’re on absolute fire. RB Dryden Nelson has been a great piece for them that should carry a big load. Menominee is 5-4 though they’ve faced better competition, meaning they’ve earned home-field advantage. Cooper Conway is a great offensive weapon for this squad.
Fruitport @ Cadillac (D3) – These teams met up during week 2 of the season, and I watched Cadillac come away with the win 28-12. Though what I saw from that game was good defense, questionable coaching, with explosive offenses. If Fruitport can give Gavin Reames Gavin Reames 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Fruitport | 2022 MI a little more time to throw, they’ve got a shot as this offense can be explosive. As for Cadillac, they need to play their veer offense well, which is very frustrating for any defense to handle when done well.
