The list is a who’s who of talent.
* Kazarius Adams Kazarius Adams 5'8" | 170 lbs | RB Gray Collegiate Academy | 2022 State SC , RB, Gray Collegiate
* Will Mattison Will Mattison 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Northwestern | 2022 State SC , QB, Northwestern
* Trent Pearman Trent Pearman 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Daniel | 2022 State SC , QB, Daniel
* Adam Randall Adam Randall 6'3" | 200 lbs | WR Myrtle Beach | 2022 State SC , WR, Myrtle Beach
* Jaylen Sneed Jaylen Sneed 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Hilton Head | 2022 State SC , LB, Hilton Head Island
But why were each of these players selected for the elite group? This could help explain it.
Adams: Through the first eight games this year, Adams’ numbers were through the roof. He rushed for 1,630 yards and 17 touchdowns and hauled in another 97 yards and one touchdowns receiving. He was a big focal point for Georgia State and the Panthers landed a commitment from him.
Mattison: The Trojans’ senior has thrown for 3,699 yards and 45 touchdowns in 17 career games, including 2,173 yards and 30 scores so far this season. Northwestern has already clinched a region championship and will enter the playoffs as a No. 1 seed when they commence next week.
Pearman: South Carolina’s 2020 Gatorade Player of the Year blew up as a junior, throwing for 2,786 yards and 35 touchdowns during Daniel’s undefeated run to the Class 3A state title. This year, he’s been nearly as dynamic, passing for 2,027 yards and 26 touchdowns for the (still) undefeated Lions.
Randall: Randall surpassed 2,500 total yards of offense for his career last week, a figure boosted by Myrtle Beach using him in its Rhino package this season. After just missing the 1,000-yard receiving mark last year, he’s already narrowing in on that figure this season. Randall has 26 career touchdowns in 25 games.
Sneed: As a senior, the Notre Dame commitment has accumulated 87 tackles, six tackles for loss, two blocked punts, an interception, one pass break-up and an sack on defense/special teams. On offense, where he plays quarterback, he’s run for 696 yards and 10 touchdowns and passed for another 210 and two scores.
Mr. Football will be awarded Saturday, December 11 at halftime of the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl in Myrtle Beach. All five players were previously selected for the game.
