Sights and Sounds: Rio Rancho 7×7 Jamboree (Video/Recap)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>RIO RANCHO</strong> – The Rio Rancho Rams hosted a three-team 7x7 Jamboree Wednesday night against Cleveland and Eldorado. The event allowed us an opportunity to gauge the progress of several quarterbacks as we enter late June. The start of preseason camps is just five or six weeks away.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We got our first look at new Cleveland starting quarterback <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2181232' first='Michael' last='Denison']</strong> in a competitive, non-camp &nbsp;situation, He didn't disappoint, engaging Eldorado QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2178505' first='Landon' last='Smith']</strong> in a high-powered shootout in the first contest of the evening. Both quarterbacks traded haymakers for most of the 25 minutes, displaying excellent accuracy and touch on several TD throws.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Denison is outstanding on sideline patters and dropping the ball into a bucket over outstretched defenders. Smith, as he did throughout camping season earlier this month, has a rocket arm.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>City of Vision rivals Cleveland and Rio Rancho locked horns in the second contest of the night. The Rams rotated rising senior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1604705' first='Micah' last='Takahashi']</strong> and rising freshman <strong>Crew Victor</strong> at QB. That's something we could see when the season starts in August as the Rams are preparing packages for Victor.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The final contest of the night pitted Eldorado against Rio Rancho. Since Smith is just a rising sophomore and Victor a rising freshman, we got a glimpse of the future of the quarterback position in the Albuquerque Metro Region.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Smith has plenty of weapons at wide receiver. Rising senior speedster <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1155116' first='Jahari' last='Morehead']</strong> and newcomer <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2078851' first='Amari' last='Clark']</strong> frequently found the open seams in the defense. Both players have outstanding speed and elusiveness.
