We continued our 2026 spring camp tour at Piedmont's spring game. We got an early look at the Wildcats as they look to break through and become a true contender in Class 6A-2 this fall. We break down five players that stood out throughout the morning and could all be impact players for Piedmont this season. Check out our YouTube Channel later today for highlights from the spring game!

Brody Williams - 2029 Linebacker

We're starting to buy stock in 2029 linebacker Brody Williams after getting our first look at him in person. Williams is a 2029 prospect that we got a chance to watch on film and he looked the part there but we wanted to see him in person. He immediately passed the eye test with his size and overall speed. Piedmont has a handful of linebackers that we like and Williams has the potential to be the best of the bunch. In fact, we really liked what we saw from Piedmont's front seven and Williams is a big part of that. Based on his age and overall skillset, Williams might have the highest ceiling on this roster.

[player_tooltip player_id='1878056' first='Brooks' last='Backus'] - 2028 Running Back

2028 running back [player_tooltip player_id='1878056' first='Brooks' last='Backus'] is coming off a breakout sophomore season last fall and he's hungry for a bigger role in 2026. And from what we saw during the spring game, he has the potential to be one of the top rushers in Class 6A-2 this season. First off, he's going to be one of the more experienced and productive running backs returning in 6A-2 this season. You combine that with the workload that he's going to get and the sky is the limit for him. He broke a few runs during their spring game and the power that he runs with is something that is always going to stand out to us about his game.

Easton Callison - 2027 Defensive End

2027 defensive end Easton Callison was a player that we noticed before the spring game began. His size stood out to us and the way he was moving around in warm ups had us intrigued to watch him closer when the spring game got started. And we're glad that we made a point to watch him a little closer. From the opening snap, Callison was flying all over the ball. He's part of a very aggressive and active front seven for Piedmont and we think that he could be primed for a breakout season this fall. As you can tell with this breakdown, we think the front seven is very talented and Callison is another name to know.

[player_tooltip player_id='1719482' first='Jordin' last='Holman'] - 2027 Quarterback

Piedmont is going into the 2026 season with an advantage having their starting quarterback returning. 2027 signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1719482' first='Jordin' last='Holman'] is back to run their option offense but we should say we liked what we saw from a few different guys at the quarterback position. But there's no doubt that when it comes to running this offense, Holman is the guy for the job because of his overall understanding of it and he was rarely making a bad decision during the spring game. He's a really solid athlete that seems to be the perfect mold for what Piedmont is looking for from their quarterback in this option attack.

Willie Cruz - 2027 Defensive Tackle

2027 defensive tackle Willie Cruz was a player that was pointed out to us before the spring game began and he immediately backed up the pregame hype. Within the first couple snaps, Cruz established his dominance on the line of scrimmage by clogging the lanes up the middle and getting a consistent push into the backfield. His combination of power and size make him an intriguing 2027 prospect to keep an eye on as we head further into the summer months. He's another Piedmont prospect we didn't know about coming into the spring game but he's certainly on our radar now.
