We're back with more 2027 film room coverage! This senior class is loaded with talent, and across the rankings, watchlists, and unranked players in the state, there are tons of athletes who could have legit upside as college studs. Instantly on his tape, you realize that Slocum's arm talent is legit. With a simple 3/4 flip, he can sling it 40+ yards with minimal effort put into the pass. Furthermore, his ball placement on deep routes is really solid. He rarely underthrows a big pass and is excellent at stretching the field and picking up some monster gains. He dares DBs to make a play on the ball, and even in tight man-coverage, he can drop dimes into his receiver's breadbasket. Even off platform, he can uncork his arm and make incredibly difficult cross-body throws to the far sideline, and still complete the pass with impressive accuracy.

I don't know if there's a school in Minnesota that has produced more college football players than Buffalo. If their success is any indication of the talent that flows from that school, I would really recommend that coaches take a look at Potter. He's a quick defensive tackle who gives a ton of effort and has a lot of utility as a run-stopper, but I could also see his build working well as a DE at the next level. On his tape, there are so many green flags. His pad level is always super low, and even though he's not the biggest body in the trenches, his leverage allows him to stay stout and not get driven off the line. Additionally, Potter does a great job of shedding blockers and flowing to the ball. He's super effective on stunts, with a quick first step, he can expose big and slow offensive linemen. Watch out for Potter in 2026.

A valuable DB who has a history of making big plays for the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm, Pesta is a 2027 I've had my eyes on for a while now. In his junior tape, Pesta showcased a lot of encouraging traits that will make him a successful safety at the next level. His athleticism is notable; he's both fast and quick, allowing him to create turnovers on special teams and provide a valuable safety blanket over the top of the defense. When teams run the ball, Pesta doesn't hesitate to play downhill either, and he can execute a nasty knife tackle to take out the ball carrier low. He does a great job of tracking the near hip and doesn't overpursue, which allows him to stretch plays long, leading to tackles for minimal gains for the ball carrier. Pesta should be all over the MIAC/WIAC recruiting boards this fall.

A versatile defender with tape as both a defensive lineman and as an inside linebacker, Thompson is an out-state athlete who I could see attracting some real attention during his senior campaign. One of my favorite aspects of Thompson's game that shone through in his tape is his physicality. He's quick for his size and does an excellent job of filling gaps while pursuing the ball carrier. Once he comes in contact with the RB, Thompson lights them up. I admire his footwork as well, always playing forward and finding opportunities to make big-time TFLs. He's nasty when sent on a blitz and deserves far more hype. There's a lot to like about his game.

Another thick out-state MLB, Friske is an absolute UNIT who put up some great junior tape in 2025. He lays the wood when tackling a ball carrier, and capitalizes on bad passes out of the backfield or short ones across the middle by lighting up the unfortunate receiver, without crossing the line into a penalty. He has a lot of success against run-dominant teams, which is perfect when playing smaller schools in rural MN. He's got great closing speed and will lay out to make a tackle. Friske is effective when pass-rushing as well, employing a quick swim move to make light work of guards on the way to a violent sack. When blitzing, Friske can wreak havoc in the backfield, both in run and pass scenarios. He'd be a great get for a lot of schools going into 2027.

A stocky DT who made waves for the AAAAA squad Minneapolis Washburn last fall, Rowley could emerge as one of the top DL in the Twin Cities after his senior campaign. The first thing that really stood out to me on his junior tape was his motor. Rowley is constantly working, feet always moving, and trying a variety of moves to fight through offensive linemen. He does a good job of flowing to the play while extending on offensive linemen to prevent them from locking onto his pads. He also gives a rare effort out of DTs when pursuing receivers far outside of the traditional tackle range for a defensive lineman. Rowley has plays on tape where he makes sideline tackles after pursuing a ball carrier, a feat that did not go unnoticed. I'm interested in seeing how he develops over the next couple of months.

A two-way threat for Apple Valley, who has plenty of tape as both an RB and as a CB from his junior year, Mitchell is fresh off his first offer from UW-Eau Claire. On offense, Mitchell is a versatile athlete. I'd classify him as a receiving back with equal upside catching passes and carrying the rock. He's got good hands and will lay out to catch difficult balls. When rushing, Mitchell runs hard, hitting holes explosively and often carrying defenders with him downfield. However, he arguably has his best tape on the defensive side of the ball. Mitchell is a crafty and zone-loyal corner, with great ball sense to boot. He's also got utility in the run game and has no issues getting physical at the point of attack, beating a wideout off his block, and making a big tackle in the open field.
