Week 9 Power Rankings

Coming off an open week, Greenville Christian maintains their top spot in the state going into Week 9. Altogether the top 8 from last week’s rankings held steady with some new additions coming in at number 9 and 10 this week. <strong>1. Greenville Christian (8-1)</strong> It’s hard to believe the final regular season game of the 2021 campaign is upon the Saints. Standout WR <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/chris-bell-2/">[player_tooltip player_id="104548" first="Chris" last="Bell"]</a> is the latest prospect to see his recruitment blow up. This week: vs. Delta Streets Academy <strong>2. Ocean Springs (7-0)</strong> More of the same from the Greyhounds last week. 42-3 winners on the road at Pascagoula. Outscored opponents 75-3 over the last two weeks. This week: vs. St. Martin <strong>3. Starkville (8-0)</strong> The Jackets hung 37 points on the board in the 1st half at Murrah last week, ultimately winning 50-0. The "Little Egg Bowl" is on tap this week against an Oxford team that has struggled but will definitely be ready to play in this rivalry matchup. This week: vs. Oxford <strong>4. Oak Grove (6-1)</strong> The Warriors offense prevailed again last week against Terry, going over the 50 point mark for the second straight week. When that offense is clicking it could be the best in the state. This week: @ Brandon <strong>5. West Point (5-2)</strong> The Green Wave survived their last true test of the regular season last week winning 40-21 at Lake Cormorant. The guys from Clay County look to be on their way to another Region 1-5A title. This week: @ Greenville <strong>6. Madison Central (6-1)</strong> The <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/vic-sutton/">[player_tooltip player_id="108930" first="Vic" last="Sutton"]</a> to <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/isaiah-spencer/">[player_tooltip player_id="108979" first="Isaiah" last="Spencer"]</a> connection was hot vs. Tupelo last week going for 3 TD’s. Both Jr’s will be coveted recruits for the Class of 2023. This week: @ Germantown <strong>7. South Panola (6-1)</strong> Lewisburg had no answer for the Tiger defense last week as South Panola won big 42-3. Not nearly enough people are talking about the Tigers. This week: vs. Desoto Central <strong>8. West Jones (6-1)</strong> The Mustangs pitched their 4th shutout in the last 5 games last week at Florence. Don’t be surprised if there isn’t another one this week. This week: @ Lanier <strong>9. Neshoba Central (8-0)</strong> The Rockets are quietly 8-0 and fully in control of their own destiny in Region 2-5A This week: vs. Vicksburg <strong>10. D’Iberville (7-1)</strong> Only loss of the season came at the hands of Ocean Springs and the Warriors have only improves since then. This week: vs. Gulfport
