Week 8 produced some huge individual performances here in Mississippi. Let’s check out some of the guys who went off this past Friday!
Antonio Kennedy Antonio Kennedy 6'0" | 200 lbs | RB Choctaw County | 2023 State MS | RB | Choctaw County
One of the top running backs in the 2023 class put on a show this past Friday. Kennedy finished with 284 rushing yards and 2 TDs in a 33-27 win over Eupora. Kennedy runs with great speed and violence, flashing an impressive stiff arm when he gets wrapped up by defenders. This is a really complete back that is bound to add some college interest soon.
Emmanuel Randle | RB | Tupelo Christian
Only a freshman, Emmanuel Randle has begun to turn some heads this season. Last week, Randle finished with 13 carries for 180 yards and 5 TDs. The young back has a strong lower body and incredible vision in the open field. When he can find a hole, Randle can turn on the jets and find the end zone. Really impressed with his tape so far and is bound to have another big game this week.
Kiron Benjamin | RB | Laurel
Doing the most with his carries, Kiron Benjamin flashed in a big 47-7 win over South Jones. On just 6 total carries, Benjamin ran for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns. Benjamin follows his blocks well and knows how to set up a huge run. He flashes impressive speed in the open field and the ability to make defenders miss with ease. Look for him to add college interest as the season comes to a close.
Davien LaGarde Davien LaGarde 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB St. Stanislaus | 2022 State MS | ATH | St. Stanislaus
Senior athlete Davien LaGarde Davien LaGarde 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB St. Stanislaus | 2022 State MS made his name known all over the field this past Friday. On the offensive side of the ball, Lagarde rushed for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns, while on defense, he recorded 7 tackles and a pass break up. At 6’0″ 180, Lagarde has potential to play on either side of the ball at the next level. Lagarde has great athleticism and is physical against the run, meaning that he could be a valuable safety or corner. Love watching this guy play and excited to see where he lands in December.
Malachi Williams | LB | Brookhaven
The junior linebacker had a game that he will never forget against Hattiesburg. On the stat sheet, Williams recorded the following stats from his linebacker position: 2 INTs, 1 sack, fumble recovery, 14 tackles, and 1 TD. This guy was flat out all over the place! Williams has good length and runs sideline to sideline well. He reads his keys and has an absolute nose for the football. He can also cover downfield and make plays on the ball in the air. Stock riser in our next rankings update with a lot of potential.
Jaleel Fleming | DB | Vicksburg
The ball hawking junior was on full display this past week, finishing with 2 INTs and 7 tackles against Ridgeland. Fleming flashes great range and a high football IQ. He reads the quarterback’s eyes well and can find the football in the air with ease. Against the run, Fleming is not afraid to come up and make a big time open field tackle. This young defensive back has woke a lot of folks up this season and will be in our next rankings update.
Kaden Irving Kaden Irving 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB Gautier | 2023 State MS | QB | Gautier
Gautier’s junior quarterback is a guy that just keeps on producing. The Ole Miss baseball commit finished 30/45 for 393 yards and 4 TDs in the air, while rushing for 82 yards and 2 TDs on the ground. How this guy doesn’t have a college football offer yet is beyond me! All he does is score touchdowns and sling the ball around. Big things on the horizon for Irving.
Cody Perry | QB | French Camp
Senior quarterback Cody Perry had a huge night last Friday, finishing the game 14/20 for 341 yards and 5 TDs. Perry knows how to operate and lead his offense and makes quick decisions on the fly. He distributes the ball well to his playmakers and shows good poise in the pocket. Perry reads the field well and is set on getting this French Camp team to the playoffs. Looking for him to continue playing well in an offense that is starting to click.
Lester Miller Lester Miller 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Brandon | 2023 State MS | WR | Brandon
Miller has been one of our favorite athletes in the 2023 class for a while now, but finally had a huge game this past Friday. Playing receiver, he finished with 6 catches for 239 yards and 1 TD against Meridian. Miller is a long and athletic receiver who runs crisp routes and catches the ball naturally. He understands how to find open spaces in defenses well and can go up and grab anything thrown his way. Although he played a lot of defense last season, you would think he has always been an offensive guy based on this year’s tape!
