Many middle school and freshmen prospects stood out in the 12U group, with some highlighted in our <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/04/smoky-mountain-summit-day-one-14u-mvp-performers/">MVPs articles</a>, but here are some of the top young talent from this weekend!    2029 Middle TN Elite WR [player_tooltip player_id='2144006' first='Cooper' last='Youell'] stepped into the spotlight on Championship Sunday and became the go-to option when it mattered most. Youell kept working every rep, finding space and giving his quarterback a reliable target. When the moment called for it, Youell delivered every time for the Bombers. His hands were dependable all day, and Youell showed strong body control adjusting to throws and finishing plays. There's a high-effort edge to how Youell plays, and it paid off as he helped push his team toward the title game. When they needed a play, they looked to Youell, who seemingly always answered the call.     2029 Middle TN Elite QB [player_tooltip player_id='1718122' first='Easton' last='Lee'] put together a steady and efficient showing, letting the game come to him and making the right decisions throughout Sunday. Lee didn't chase big plays and trusted what was in front of him and consistently delivered catchable balls that kept the offense on schedule. There's a patience to Lee's game that stands out, allowing routes to develop and trusting his receivers to get open. Lee processed things well and stayed in control, which gave his unit a calm, reliable presence at quarterback. With his frame and approach, Lee is a player to follow throughout his high school career.     2029 Middle TN Elite WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='2174364' first='Logan' last='Johnson'] brought energy and playmaking every time he stepped on the field and elevated his game in big moments. Johnson has a knack for finding the football and when it comes his way, he makes a play on it. His hands stood out all day, and Johnson consistently finished through contact while also making an impact on defense. There is an edge to Johnson's play, and it shows up in key situations. When the games got tight, Johnson found a way to be involved and make something happen for his team.     2029 Fort Mill Saints WR Ethan Childs took a clear step forward this weekend and made himself a go-to option in the passing game. Childs used his speed and athleticism to consistently create separation and get open without needing much help. He moves with ease and looks smooth in and out of his routes, which makes him tough to stay with. Childs showed growth from the last time we saw him and played with confidence when the ball came his way. Childs is a name worth keeping tabs on coming out of South Carolina as a high upside young prospect.     2030 Tennessee Brigade DB [player_tooltip player_id='1647054' first='Aiden' last='Reed'] showed up as a new face since the last time watching them and wasted no time making his presence felt. Reed made plays on the football all weekend and came away with multiple interceptions when viewing their games. He moves with ease and closes ground in a hurry, which allows him to challenge receivers at the catch point. Reed plays fast and confidently and doesn't hesitate when the ball is in the air. Strong first impression for Reed and a defender who looks ready to keep building momentum as an emerging young prospect entering high school.     2030 Tennessee Brigade LB [player_tooltip player_id='1823047' first='Brock' last='Smith'] didn't take long to stand out and make his mark in the middle of the defense this weekend. Smith showed a feel for the game that you don't always see at this age and position, reading things well and putting himself in a position to come away with multiple interceptions. He covers ground side to side well for his age and brings a physical presence when the ball shows up. Smith played with confidence and kept finding ways to be involved in big moments. A standout showing from Smith and another young defender in this group. Smith looks like he's worth monitoring once he reaches high school next season.     2029 Fort Mill Saints ATH [player_tooltip player_id='2155277' first='Sheldon' last='Erickson'] continues to be one of those players you notice right away when his team takes the field. Erickson has a physically developed build and moves with a natural fluidity that shows up on both sides of the ball. His hands are strong and reliable, and Erickson knows how to use his frame to shield defenders and finish plays as a pass catcher. Defensively, Erickson stays around the action and consistently finds the football. Erickson plays through contact with confidence and prevents defensive backs from pressing him at receiver with his strength.
