March Check-in: Underrated Recruits Across Alabama

We've got so many talented prospects in Alabama to cover that sometimes we don't get to talk about the underrated ones making the most noise.   That's no excuse, of course! So, we're revisiting some of the talented prospects across the state who haven't gotten as much coverage as of late.   You won't want to miss out on these guys, so be sure to watch their film below!    Elijah Lanier is a gifted DB from Anniston who's set up for a huge senior season this upcoming fall.   “Lanier is a physical CB who thrives off his size, speed, and ball skills out in coverage. Lanier can press WRs at the LOS and has the instincts and timing to break on passes and force PBUs/INTs.   I love how Lanier gets involved against the run- he's great in pursuit and consistently flies down to the line of scrimmage to rack up TFLs. Lanier is a well-rounded defender who can make impact plays against the run and pass- it'll be exciting to watch him moving forward.“   Lanier made a ton of big plays this past season. Be sure to take a look and see for yourself below. He's a lockdown DB who's picked up lots of collegiate attention over the past two years. I won't be surprised if he adds more soon; he's been playing at a seriously high level.      Jaylen McCollum is one of the most underrated, lockdown DBs in the state- he's been so productive for Jasper the last few seasons.   "At 6'1 180, McCollum has great size and plays with a ton of speed and physicality outside at CB.   McCollum is highly instinctual and excellent at reading and reacting to plays. He isn't easily beaten in coverage, is a constant threat to pick off/break up passes, and consistently puts himself in great position to take down the ball carrier when defending the run.   McCollum thrives off his physicality. He reroutes WRs at the line of scrimmage, is great in man coverage, and can easily fight off blocks and deliver huge hits to the ball carrier."   McCollum has locked up almost everyone he's lined up across from over the last two seasons. I'm a huge fan of his game and think he has a huge final season ahead. We're all going to have to watch out.      [player_tooltip player_id='2115841' first='Keith' last='Turner'] III is one of the biggest breakout stars of this past season. He made a huge impact in Saraland's secondary.   "[player_tooltip player_id='2115841' first='Keith' last='Turner'] III<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/keith-turner-iii/"></a><a></a> is one of my favorite new players in our 2027 Rankings. He's a dominant coverage DB who can line up and produce at a high level at both CB and S. Turner has great size, speed, hands, and ball skills that he uses to locate, break up, and intercept passes all over the field.   Turner is a physical defender as well. He consistently wins one-on-ones, fighting off pass catchers for the ball, and does a great job providing run support near the line of scrimmage as well. I can't wait to see Turner play this upcoming season. He has so much to offer to Saraland's defense."   Turner III is a really talented player I think will see more collegiate interest head his way soon. He can do so many things well for his team's defense and has put together some great tape in a tough 6A region. Be sure to take a look at his clips below, you'll be impressed.      [player_tooltip player_id='1668196' first='Chase' last='Holt'] is a dominant LB from Ramsay who's made huge plays for his team's defense the last two seasons.   "Holt is a dominant pass rusher who finds ways into the backfield nearly every snap. He's quick off the snap, has great size and speed, and does an excellent job using his length to beat OTs and get to the quarterback.   Once he's behind the line of scrimmage, you can guarantee that Holt will either pressure, take down, or force a bad decision from the opposing quarterback. On top of that, Hotl is a force against the run and frequently creates stops for little to no gain at the line of scrimmage."   Holt has been terrific for Ramsay these last two years. He's a really well-rounded defender you can line up and ask anything of, I'd be surprised if more schools don't reach out his way with offers soon. Make sure you take a look at some of his tape below, you'll come away impressed.      DJ Hall is a talented WR from Hewitt-Trussville who lined up and produced a ton last fall for his offense.   "Hall is a dynamic wide receiver who can attack and create explosive plays at multiple levels of the field. At 6'0 160, Hall has great size, speed, and hands at the position, he uses to easily gain separation and haul in impressive catches through coverage and contact.   I'm really impressed with how Hall can create after the catch. He's quick on his feet, can easily change his direction, and has great vision that he uses to navigate the field with the ball in his hands."   I was really impressed with Hall last season and think he deserves a lot more attention from those around the state and at the next level.
