<p><strong>ALBUQUERQUE </strong>– Coaches from seven schools throughout the Rock Mountain region, West Texas and California were on hand Saturday to evaluate more than 100 prospects at the annual College Football Prospect ID Showcase at Albuquerque Academy.</p>

<p>New Mexico Highlands and NMMI were the two schools from the Land of Enchantment represented at the day-long camp, which kicked off at 8 a.m. and wrapped up at 4 p.m. Additional school represented at the camp were Adams State, Colorado School of Mines, Fort Lewis College, Simpson University (CA) and West Texas A&M.</p>

<p>Four schools from the highly competitive Rockey Mountain Athletic Conference were in attendance to evaluate prospects.</p>

<p>The camp began in chilly conditions, but temperatures soon warmed up and by late morning, the conditions were perfect for football. </p>

<p>After a dynamic stretch and warmup, the morning session featured position specific drills. The highlight was the quarterbacks throwing to the wide receivers, allowing the coaches to evaluate the arm strength and accuracy of the quarterbacks and the speed and route running abilities of the wide receivers.</p>

<p>In the final segment of the morning session, two placekickers squared off in a one-kick battle. After that, the coaches spoke to players and parents about the recruiting process and what to expect if a player aspires to play at the next level.</p>

<p>In addition to dozens of players from throughout New Mexico, prospects from El Paso, West Texas and California were also on hand. New Mexico prospects from as far away as Thoreau, Miyamura, Organ Mountain competed at the camp alongside local players from most APS schools.</p>
