continues to establish himself as one of the premier prospects in the Class of 2029, regardless of position. Since the last time I saw him this spring, Campbell has added nearly 20 pounds to his frame, and the physical growth is impossible to miss. Even more impressive, he just turned 16 years old, making his size, athleticism, and long-term upside truly special.
As an edge defender, Campbell possesses all the physical tools coaches look for at the next level. He has an outstanding frame with plenty of room to continue adding quality weight while maintaining his athleticism. His length, explosiveness, and ability to bend the edge make him a constant threat in the backfield, while his strength continues to improve with his added size. Campbell has the versatility to impact both the pass rush and run defense, giving offenses problems every snap.
College programs have already recognized his talent. Campbell owns multiple Division I offers, with ECU becoming the latest program to offer. Considering his age and how much he’s developed since the spring, it’s easy to see why he’s viewed as one of the top overall prospects in the 2029 class. As he continues to refine his technique and grow into his frame, expect his recruitment to take off even more over the next few years.

Campbell could be a major, major prospect in the coming years off the edge. We thought we were early on him when we had him ranked 56th during the last update, then he earned a flurry of early offers just after our last update. This offseason, he looks bigger and stronger. He already has elite get-off and bend around the edge, so he has 10-sack potential for Hoke County.

(C/O 2029) EDGE from Hoke County came into the showcase ranked as the #5 edge rusher in his class, but he very well could have been the top overall performer at the entire camp. Campbell’s get-off was elite, consistently beating offensive linemen off the snap, and he showed a powerful long-arm move that overwhelmed blockers throughout the day. He dominated the competition, destroying anyone lined up in front of him and clearly outperforming everyone in his group during drills. What stood out just as much was the control he played with—Campbell looked confident and in command during every rep. With his combination of length, explosiveness, and pass-rush ability, Campbell already looks like a sure-fire Power 4 prospect, and he is definitely a name to keep a close eye on moving forward.

I promise Campbell is a freshman, even though you wouldn’t be able to tell by looking at him or watching his film. He has impressive length and get-off, and he’s physically ahead of some of the juniors and seniors he’s facing. Look for him to rise in the rankings over the next few years as he refines his game.
