Expert Analysis

Some things just don’t change. One of those is Jayden “Tank” Terry running all over his opponent. On 19 carries in week 1, Terry tallied 273 yards and 3 touchdowns. It seemed like every update I got from that game was Jayden tearing off another chunk play. We’ve covered it over and over. His elite speed, unbelievable determination and ability to bounce off of tacklers is unlike pretty much anyone in our state. I am really looking forward to seeing how he follows it up against a tough Cass Tech team in week 2.

Terry went crazy against an extremely good Muskegon team. He did his usual thing- exploded through a hole, and once he was through the first wave of defenders, he was gone. Terry totaled 273 yards and 3TDs on just 19 carries. He also had a pass deflection on defense.
I’m still not sure how Ferris State snatched

Any Power T running back needs to have a little power.

has run with full force since his freshman season.
I’ve seen it firsthand. Terry takes a carry up the middle, runs right through a couple of arm tackles, and before you know it, he’s in the open field. Yes, Terry’s speed is high-end and allows him to finish runs, but he would be a significantly worse player if he didn’t have the balance.

Speed. More specifically, explosiveness.
“Speed Kills” is a saying for a reason.
I remember after Jayden’s freshman year, I had a chance to watch him and another D1-offered RB work out side by side at a camp. Jayden was on-par or better in every category.
What’s always stood out to me is his speed. Jayden is a pure home run hitter. There are so many examples of Jayden hitting the hole and outrunning the entire opposing defense for a touchdown. Anyone can have good top speed and succeed, but what makes him stand out in my eyes is his explosiveness. Jayden goes 0-40 faster than a Bugatti.

Jayden is and always will be a Division 1 prospect in my eyes. A pure 3-down back. Sure, the power-T offense isn’t as complex as other offensive schemes, and Jayden may not be able to fully showcase his abilities.
However, his skill still really, really shines. Once Jayden gets to the second level, he’s gone. So many highlights burning past great defenses. Plus, Jayden is great in short-yardage situations. Great contact balance, overall power, and sneaky athletic. The only two things that could possibly keep him off of a D1 roster are grades and personality.

to earn more offers. In my eyes, he’s a MAC prospect, at the very least. Trough three weeks of play, Jayden has shown that same explosiveness that I’m used to seeing. Against an incredibly good defense, Jayden was able to consistently make plays. Take the first highlight as an example- Jayden explodes through traffic, breaks several tackles, and turns what would be a 3-yard gain into an explosive 15-yard rush. You’ll see it time and time again against Rockford. Jayden is one of the most explosive, fastest running backs in the state and possesses insanely good contact balance. In addition, Jayden has a few defensive highlights, where he looks as explosive as ever. Jayden is undoubtably a top-25 Junior in Michigan and I remain very bullish on his potential.

Tank is one of the most impressive backs I’ve ever covered. He’s balanced, shifty, quick and just flat out more athletic than most other backs. His highlights showed more of the same, as he was able to get out on multiple occasions and weave through the Davison defense, cashing in on 2 of those for touchdowns. So far, he is right on par with where I thought he would be as a D1 prospect.
