This Week 4 Matchup is between Bradley Bourbonnais and Lincoln-Way West. In the first half of the game, most of the points were scored as each team had an answer for the other. In the second half, it turned into a defensive battle. Lincoln-Way West ended up winning the game 16 - 14 getting their first win of the game (1-3) and Bradley Bourbonnais falling to (2-2). With that being said, here are your Lincoln-Way West Standouts from this game. Game Highlights
[player_tooltip player_id="155086" first="Justin" last="Harris"] 5’11 185 22’ RB Twitter Mr. Harris keeps his feet driving to fight for extra yards as the defenders try to bring him down and read his blocks well. He bursts through the line of scrimmage with his quick acceleration and has the speed to turn the corner. That's not all this young man can do, he has the vision to see the cutback lanes where once he does he changes his gears quickly and can catch out of the backfield. Alexander Poholik 6’1 265 24’ OL Mr. Poholis does a good job of firing off the ball and creating running lanes for his teammates. He does so by washing the defensive lineman down on the play and by keeping his feet driving which results in pushing the defensive lineman back 5 or so yards on the given play. [player_tooltip player_id="139888" first="Eric" last="Nowak"] 6’1 180 22’ DB Twitter Mr. Nowak isn't afraid to press the wideout, when he does he gets hands-on to re-route the receiver. He stays with his man in coverage downfield with his fluid flip of the hips and gets his hand in there to deflect passes downfield. This young man is also able to get off of blocks where he attacks downhill to make open-field tackles. Cole Crafton 6’3 185 24’ QB Twitter Mr. Crafton is a young quarterback for his team but don't think that he isn't ready for the task at hand. This young man can get the ball out quickly when running RPOs and can put zip on the ball. He uses his pocket footwork to make platform throws, this is seen prominently with his touchdown pass to Jason Haris to put Lincoln-Way West on the board. This isn't all this young man can do, he's mobile showcasing his running abilities during designed quarterback runs. https://twitter.com/Jamaskane/status/1439618462033252363?s=20 Jason Harris 6’2 205 22’ WR Twitter Mr. Harris had himself a game Friday night. He runs a good 3 step slant where once he secures the ball he plants his foot into the ground and turns upfield in an instant with his quick acceleration. Upon doing so this resulted in a touchdown putting his team on the board. He's able to make contested catches where he uses his big frame to shield off the defender. This young man is also able to find the soft spot in the defense and has the ability to plant his foot into the ground to change direction quickly. https://twitter.com/Jamaskane/status/1439620118695264262?s=20 Anthony Izzo 6’2 175 22’ DB Twitter Mr. Izzo does a good job of attacking downhill to fill holes in run support. As he does do, he will either meet the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage or make the open field tackle. This young man also has the closing speed to cover sideline to sideline not allowing the ball carrier to bounce the plays outside. Notables Caymen Bulthius 5’10 150 22’ WR Kaleb Wilkey 5’10 180 23’ DB Twitter
Be sure to follow @jamaskane regarding news & information for Illinois High School Football, @PrepRedzoneIL, and @PrepRedzone.
