Week 2 In Review: Top 5 Quarterback Performances

<span style="font-weight: 400;">With week 2 action in the books, we take a look at the top five quarterback performances from across the Garden State. Here are the five signal-callers who had breakout performances this past weekend. </span> <strong>Billy Riccci | Wallington </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ricci helped the Wallington Panthers to a 49-12 victory over Machester Regional last weekend by completing 19 of 27 passes for 433 yards and 6 touchdowns. He threw touchdown passes of 5, 9, 10, 14, 22, and 81 yards. </span> <strong>Analysis:</strong> Ricci is a well-rounded prospect as he has the ability to beat you with both his arm and his legs. He displays good arm strength as he has the ability to throw from the far hash to the opposite sideline with accuracy and zip. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="135813" first="Dean" last="DeNobile"] | Morris Catholic </strong> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Denobile had his best game to date as he helped Morris Catholic to a 29-28 overtime victory over Madison by throwing for 357 yards and four touchdowns. He completed 57% of his passes as he was 20 for 35 with scores of 11, 18, 25, 48. He scored the winning two-point conversion in double overtime to secure the victory. </span> <strong>Analysis:</strong> DeNobile stands tall in the pocket and shows touch and accuracy on deep passes. He displays good arm strength on the move and has the ability to keep a play alive with his feet. He's got an unusual throwing motion at times but puts the ball in a position where only his receivers can catch it. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="118977" first="Jack" last="Grusser"] | Ramapo </strong> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Grusser completed 15 of 23 passes for 340 yards and five touchdowns in a 40-13 victory over Pascack Valley in Week 2. He’s now completed 30 of 44 passes for 559 yards and 8 touchdowns on the season. </span> <strong>Analysis:</strong> Grusser is a pocket passer who stands tall in the pocket and allows the play to develop in front of him. He took advantage of a defense that was allowing his receivers to run wide open as he hit a number of intermediate passes in this week's victory. <strong>David Updegraff | Robbinsville </strong> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Updegraff completed 81% of his passes as he was 22 of 27 for 339 yards and four scores as his Robbinsville team fell to Overbrook 35-28. He threw touchdown passes of 26, 27, 30 and 39. </span> <strong>Analysis:</strong> Updegraff is another who allowed his receivers to do most of the work. He was accurate in getting the ball to his receivers who were then able to pick up yards after the catch. He threw into coverage a number of times but his receivers were able to fend off the defenders for long touchdowns. <strong>Frankie Garbolino | North Brunswick </strong> <span style="font-weight: 400;">The junior helped his team move to 2-0 on the season as he completed 13 of 18 pass attempts for 335 yards and four touchdowns. He threw touchdowns of 8, 73, 78 and 80.</span> <strong>Analysis:</strong> Garbolino has good pocket presence and showcases accuracy and arm strength. He has the ability to move around in the pocket which allows his receivers more time to get open. He does a nice job spreading the ball around to his receivers.
