Let’s take a closer look at St. Frances Academy’s 47-6 victory over Franklin this past weekend, as well as preview the Panthers’ game next weekend against WCAC powerhouse Good Counsel.
St. Frances Academy Panthers
Offense:
2022 6’0 190 RB – Durell Robinson
Durell Robinson had a breakout game this weekend as he carried the ball more times and for more yards than he has yet this season. He broke free for a touchdown up the middle and he was seemingly untouched when he did so. What stands out when watching Robinson are his immaculate bursts of speed that he is able to produce when running through the gaps and up the field. For his size, Robinson is incredible quick and he possesses an innate ability to power through contact with his physical strength. Durell Robinson is one of the most exciting players on the St Frances Academy roster and scouts everywhere should have their eyes on him without question.
2022 6’1 205 QB – [player_tooltip player_id="90510" first="John" last="Griffith"]
As expected, [player_tooltip player_id="90510" first="John" last="Griffith"] had a huge bounce back performance against Franklin, and he was able to lead the charge for the Panthers successfully for a win. What was unexpected was Griffith’s incredible fifty yard touchdown run that really opened up the scoring for St. Frances Academy on their way to a blowout victory. Griffith was very solid overall throwing the football as well, and there’s no doubt that he keeps improving each week. St. Frances faces a very tough test at Good Counsel this upcoming weekend in a contest that is sure to bring fireworks. [player_tooltip player_id="90510" first="John" last="Griffith"] must continue to lead and perform at an elite level for the Panthers to defeat the Falcons in this clash of some of the DMV’s best.
Defense:
2022 6’4 245 LB – [player_tooltip player_id="90499" first="Derrick" last="Moore"]
The St. Frances Academy defense and special teams were perfect against Franklin, and [player_tooltip player_id="90499" first="Derrick" last="Moore"] clearly established himself as the leader for the Panthers on defense in this contest. He was absolutely everywhere making tackles and recording sacks for big losses. The entire Franklin offense struggled to get anything going all day long and it was largely due to the pressure put on them by [player_tooltip player_id="90499" first="Derrick" last="Moore"] and his fellow Panther defensive linemen. In their next contest, Good Counsel must bring their A1 offensive game if they’re going to score against [player_tooltip player_id="90499" first="Derrick" last="Moore"] and the SFA defense because the Panthers are starting to play great football at just the right time. Moore is absolutely a D1 level talent with huge potential at the next level.
2022 5’11 180 DB – [player_tooltip player_id="90514" first="Jamal" last="Hood"]
[player_tooltip player_id="90514" first="Jamal" last="Hood"] and the entire St. Frances Academy secondary played nothing but lockdown defense the entire game against Franklin. They allowed only 6 points in the contest and Franklin struggled to complete a pass yet alone gain any yards. [player_tooltip player_id="90514" first="Jamal" last="Hood"] put both his coverage and tackling abilities on fine display this past weekend, and he will look to do the same this upcoming weekend against Good Counsel. There’s no doubt that [player_tooltip player_id="90514" first="Jamal" last="Hood"] is a D1 level talent.
