The best thing about Monday during the high school season is to check out the top performers.
Remember, this is the time of year where everyone, from fans to college coaches, are watching every run, catch, tackle, throw or block.
This past week, there were once again outstanding games across the Sunshine State.
If you have followed us throughout the years, we never play favorites – win or lose.
<strong>Here are some of the best from Week 3:</strong>
<strong>Morgan Babb</strong>, Merritt Island Christian, rushed 18 times for 232 yards and three touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass – and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="205880" first="Layson" last="Handwork"]</strong> led the defense with 17 tackles.
Miami Killian junior athlete <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128425" first="Robby" last="Washington"]</strong>, the son of Cougars' great <strong>Bobby Washington</strong>, accounted for three touchdowns, over 200 yards and a huge “Big Cat Trophy” over Palmetto.
<strong>Kade Sanders</strong> led the rushing charge with five touchdowns for Keystone Heights, which jumped to 3-0 with a 44-8 rout of visiting Tocoi Creek (0-2).
<strong>Caleb Freytag</strong> scored the go-ahead touchdown as Middleburg extended its best start since 2010, with <strong>Mike Mitchell</strong> tallying the winning two-point conversion in overtime to win at Alachua Santa Fe.
Freshman <strong>Colin Hurley</strong> was nearly perfect for Trinity Christian, firing six touchdowns and connecting on 11 of 12 passes for 287 yards as Conquerors head coach <strong>Verlon Dorminey</strong> picked up the 299th win.
<strong>T.J. Lane</strong> scored three touchdowns and Jacksonville Mandarin bounced back to win. <strong>Terrance Johnson</strong> rushed for a score and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128528" first="Jeremiah" last="Shack"] </strong>caught a touchdown pass.
Jacksonville Bolles senior RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="50210" first="Kade" last="Frew"]</strong> carried 34 times for over 200 yards and 3 touchdowns in a huge win over St. Augustine.
<strong>Ricky Joseph</strong>, 2024 Athlete, Miami Beach had 227 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns on offense – and 11 tackles on defense in a win.
Lake City Columbia used <strong>Kade Jackson's</strong> 23 of 44 for 403 yards and two touchdowns, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="108634" first="Marcus" last="Peterson"]'s</strong> nine receptions for 149 yards with two touchdowns and <strong>Tra' Tolliver's</strong> five catches for 129 yards.
Palm Beach Central junior WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128535" first="Javorian" last="Wimberly"]</strong> had 7 catches for 143 yards and 3 touchdowns. In addition, QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128315" first="Ahmad" last="Haston"] </strong>completed 14 passes for 327 and 5 passing TDs. Also added 50 yards on the ground.
Sarasota senior QB <strong>Lance Trippel</strong> threw for 5 scores in less than 18 minutes, adding to his two-game 11 TDs and 550 yards for the Sailors.
Blountstown used the play of 2023 DL <strong>Deante Reed</strong> (10 tackles 3 TFL), 2023 ATH/DB <strong>Andrae Williams</strong> (6 carries 67 yards, 3 receptions 61 yards with TD reception & 2 pass deflections and 4 tackles on defense and 2023 LB/FB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128715" first="Tristan" last="Jones"]</strong> (2023) 9 tackles ,28 yards rushing with TD and lots of crucial lead blocks
<strong>Brandin Wilcox</strong>, Ocala Vanguard Sr. PK- His field goals of 27 and 20 yards, as well as his extra point were the difference in the Knights' 13-6 defeat of rival Dunnellon.
<strong>Devonte Welcome</strong>, Lake Weir Jr. WR/RB- Had a school-record 96-yard touchdown run in a 27-13 loss to George Jenkins.
<strong>AJ Cussins</strong>, Soph. QB North Marion- Had three touchdown passes in the final quarter to break open a close game in a 24-0 defeat of West Port.
<strong>Titus Williams</strong>, Soph. DB St. John Lutheran- Finished with 9 tackles, an interception and a sack in a 16-8 loss to Oasis Christian in 8-Man Football.
Versatile South Fort Myers senior <strong>Jerry Cooper</strong> had 6 catches for 152 yards in another win.
West Orange (Winter Garden) 2023 kicker <strong>Jack Simonetta</strong> was 7/7 on extra points and put his team in great field position with several touchbacks.
Bayside (Melbourne) senior RB <strong>Justus Durant</strong> had 216 yards and 4 scores in a win.
New Port Richey River Ridge 2022 DE <strong>John Finch</strong> had 4 sacks in a win over Tampa King.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128091" first="Jason" last="Hammond"],</strong> DE, St. Thomas Aquinas had 13 tackles, 6 solo, 1 tackle for loss and a pressure in a win over Plantation American Heritage.
Ocala Lake Weir 2022 OLB/S <strong>Kristian Downes,</strong> returned an interception for a score, 10 tackles and 2 pass deflections.
Davenport may be a first year program, but QB <strong>Brinley Vandiver </strong>is way out ahead for the Broncos, throwing for 400 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Fort Meade 2026 QB <strong>Dereon Coleman</strong> tossed 3 touchdowns and over 200 yards in a Miners win.
Zephyrhills Bulldogs RB <strong>Jaylin Thomas</strong> rushed for 161 yards on 14 carries and a TD in the 42-0 win against Fivay.
Cypress Creek 2022 QB Owen Walls once again was impressive – throwing for 325 yards, 3 TDs passing and 1 rushing on offense, and 1 pass break-up and 1 interception on defense.
