I was on the sidelines for the game between two Raleigh City Schools. The game turned out to be a "Grimes Highlight Reel" where [player_tooltip player_id="109146" first="Wesley" last="Grimes"], the talented wide receiver had a highlight performance on the field. The players listed played at a level above the rest throughout the game:
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="109146" first="Wesley" last="Grimes"], WR, 6’3" 180, Millbrook HS</strong>. Wesley ran precision pass routes and separated from the defender to make catches on short and long passing routes. He accelerated past defenders to gain big yardage after making the catch, scoring often. The highlight of [player_tooltip player_id="109146" first="Wesley" last="Grimes"]’ performance was when he caught a screen pass and accelerated pass defenders racing down the sideline on the way to the end zone to score. The Wake Forest University commit delighted the fans with an impressive performance.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="154602" first="Nathan" last="Leacock"], WR, 6’4" 190, Millbrook HS</strong>. Nathan displayed the ability to separate from the defender to make catches in traffic and accelerate past defenders to gain big yardage. He is a big and fast wide receiver teamed with [player_tooltip player_id="109146" first="Wesley" last="Grimes"] to create a difficult challenge for a defensive secondary. [player_tooltip player_id="154602" first="Nathan" last="Leacock"] displayed good hands and pass route running throughout the game.
<strong>Mason Fortune, QB, 6’1" 185, Millbrook HS</strong>. Mason remained in the pocket under pressure to deliver accurate short- range passes. He has a solid arm and delivered accurate long-range passes on a few series in the game. Mason Fortune will tuck it and run when needed to avoid being sacked. He ran quite often in the second half picking up big yardage.
<strong>Jaylen Donaldson, RB, 5’10" 170, Millbrook HS</strong>. Jaylen is a quick, slashing-style runner who makes the initial tackler miss. He displayed good hands on the passing plays set up for him. Jaylen Donaldson is durable and displayed strong running between the tackles to gain tough yardage throughout the game, scoring a few times.
<strong>Will Santospago, C, 6’3" 295, Millbrook HS</strong>. Will displayed good footwork and technique to control the defender and open lanes for the running backs. He used his size and strength to deliver punishing blocking on the offensive line. Will Santospago was the dominant player on the offensive line throughout the game.
<strong>Wade Warren, QB, 5’11" 140, Broughton HS</strong>. Wade remained calm in the pocket while under constant pressure throughout the game. He is an accurate short-range passer who threw quite often. Wade Warren will tuck it and run when needed to avoid being sacked.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="45007" first="McCallum" last="Wright"], WR, 6’2" 185, Broughton HS</strong>. McCallum ran good passing routes and was able to separate from the defender to make the catch. He has good hands and made catches in traffic. [player_tooltip player_id="45007" first="McCallum" last="Wright"] does not go down after initial contact is made.
<strong>Latrell Brown, RB, 5’10" 200, Broughton HS</strong>. Latrell is a physical runner who displayed strong running between the tackles throughout the game. He displayed good hands on the passing plays designed for him. Latrell Brown does not go down after initial contact is made.
<strong>Manning Lasso, WR, 6’3" 180, Broughton HS</strong>. Manning ran good passing routes and separated from the defender to make catches. He displayed quickness and accelerated past defenders to gain big yardage on a few plays. Manning Lasso shielded defender with his body on one TD reception.
