Week two of the season provided much entertainment in the Houston area. Teams came to play, and players came out to shine. Talent was seen all over the place and many key stars left their marks on their games played. Below are a few players in the area who put their skills on display this past week and helped their teams in the best way they could have to gain a win. Some names will look familiar and some may be consistent names brought up! Once again, this is only a handful of the very talented area and we will have many many more names in the future and over the progression of the season! RB/WR Cameron King (2022) - Cypress Park King was just having a ball on the field Saturday against Cy Fair. King was find the running lanes with ease behind great blocking, and showed excellent balance, elusiveness, and vision. He was finding the cutback lanes over and over again, racking up big gains the entire game. King finished the contest with 279 rushing yards on 10 carries with 3 rushing touchdowns and added a 73 yard touchdown reception to the mix. King was a key contributor in his teams’ 62-28 win over Cy-Fair. WR Kendal Stewart (2023) - Foster Stewart had a big game against Fort Bend Travis, showing off his deep ball skills throughout the game. On the night, he was his quarterbacks favorite target, putting up 210 receiving yards on 9 catches and a touchdown to go with it. Stewart was finding a way behind the secondary and made contested catches on the regular. Stewart looked very good on the field and his numbers backed it up. The Foster Falcons posted their first win on the season and Stewart played a major role in their 28-7 victory. RB [player_tooltip player_id="60845" first="Re’Shaun" last="Sanford"] (2023) - Harker Heights Two weeks in a row Sanford finds his name of this list. He has had an amazing start to the season and has been a big reason why his team has started 2-0. Sanford has looked unstoppable when he touches the ball and just looks a step quicker than the opposing defense. He has been a strong runner and has shown off his incredible burst and speed. Sanford’s vision has been off the charts and his numbers have reflected that. He posted 129 rushing yards on 8 carries, and 2 touchdowns. The Harker Heights Knights went on to win by a score of 62-7. QB [player_tooltip player_id="121957" first="JT" last="Fayard"] (2023) - Foster Fayard had himself a night vs. Fort Bend Travis. Fayard was slinging the ball left and right, and showed off his arm strength and ability to drop the ball into his receivers bread basket. He was calm in the pocket and quick on his releases. Fayard threw for 321 yards on 17-22 passing, and had 3 touchdowns to go with it on the way to a 28-7 victory. WR Chase Sowell (2022) - Atascocita Sowell was part of a record breaking win Friday night vs. Allen and was a key part in the Atascocita Eagles success for the game. The Allen defense could not check Sowell and he made them pay. He was the deep target on many of Gavin Session’s throws and Sowell made a living taking the top off the Allen defense. Sowell made the contested catches and looked incredibly strong on his receptions, high pointing the ball and coming down with the big plays. Sowell had 7 receptions on the night for 182 yards and 4 touchdowns as his team took down the Allen Eagles 41-20 and their incredible win streak. QB Bishop Davenport (2022) - Spring Davenport looked like a true dual threat quarterback vs. Klein Oak. He looked comfortable in the pocket and was a smooth runner when he needed to be. Davenport picked apart the Klein Oak defense for majority of the game as his team put up a shut out, winning 49-0. Davenport managed to throw for 297 yards and 5 touchdowns on 13-17 passing. He also ran for 81 yards on 6 carries and had 2 rushing touchdowns. QB Gavin Session (2022) - Atascocita Probably one of the most impressive showings on the night and of week 2, Session had an outstanding game against Allen. He did just about everything right which led to a major victory behind both his arm and legs. The Allen defense had no answer for Session, and once he got hot, there was no stopping him. Session put his strong arm on display as well as his accuracy on the deep ball. He put the ball in great spots that led to big plays for his team. Session also managed to do much damage in the run game, just running through arm tackles and wearing out that defense. Session threw for 300 yards and 4 touchdowns as well as ran for 117 yards and a score as his team had an impressive 41-20 victory over Allen. Other Notable Standouts: RB Jerrell Wimbley (2022) - C.E. King 21 carries, 270 yards, 3 touchdowns RB [player_tooltip player_id="121974" first="Seth" last="Davis"] (2023) - Katy 17 carries, 177 yards, 3 touchdowns
