Back to the film room to break down some mid-season tape from prospects on the defensive side of the ball that have been standing out!

DL [player_tooltip player_id='1538329' first='Joey' last='Quinn'] (Mt. Carmel – 2026)

After his recent decommitment from Vanderbilt Quinn is now the top uncommitted senior in the state. The Power 4 defensive end goes 6'6” and 255 pounds. Quick off the ball and has tremendous power as a bull rusher. Gets offensive lineman on their heels. Has a variety of pass rushing moves along with just using his power to speed. Very good against the run getting through traffic and making the tackle. One of our favorite players in the class.

DL [player_tooltip player_id='401608' first='Ian' last='Campbell'] (Joliet Catholic – 2026)

The Navy commit goes 6'3” and 240 pounds as a big time defensive lineman. Has been productive against top competition as a senior. Stand up edge rusher that can go around defenders, spins, and convert speed to power well getting after the quarterback. Powerful use of his hands when rushing the quarterback. Also contributing this year as a tight end that can catch a pass and is a good blocker.

DL [player_tooltip player_id='401618' first='Kingston' last='Dunagan'] (Joliet Catholic – 2026)

Dunagan is a very under recruited prospect that has the physical upside and production. The 6'0” 220 pound edge player is a force turning power to speed! Great first step getting in the backfield blowing up running plays for TFLs on a regular basis. Runs well sideline to sideline. Relentless motor! Nimble, athletic, and can really move flowing to the ball.

DL [player_tooltip player_id='1938416' first='Jacob' last='Syc'] (Libertyville – 2027)

Syc is an edge player that goes 6'2” 230 pounds. The defensive tackle has good size and plays with a high-motor. Strong with his hands throwing defenders to the side. Plays the run very well up front getting off blocks and making the tackle. Can also slide outside and rush the passer. Brings versatility up front.

DL [player_tooltip player_id='1896621' first='David' last='Ward'] (Champaign Central – 2026)

The central Illinois defensive end is a 6'0” EDGE player with good length. Chases down plays in the run game down the line of scrimmage. Can also stand up and rush the quarterback. Good burst and bend around the edge. Like the work with his hands shedding blockers. This seaso he has 41 tackles, 9 TFL, and 7 sacks.

DL Mysonne Amir-O'kuesa (St. Patrick – 2028)

Intriguing young pass rusher that through five games played this year he has 16 TFLs and 7.5 sacks. Physical against the run that can slide inside using his quickness. Crashes down the line against the run.

LB Ryan Boston (Rich Township – 2026)

Boston has had a big senior season. Shows explosiveness off the edge as a pass rusher. Hits with authority! Slices through the offensive line to making negative plays. Middle linebacker closes very strong on the ball carrier. Through six weeks he had 48 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble.

LB Zion Thomas (Kankakee – 2027)

The linebacker is solid in coverage over the middle including an interception he ran back for a pick 6. Range knocking down multiple other passes. Good tackler against the run. Sneaks through the traffic to find the ball carrier. Could see the 6'0” 185 pound defender transitioning to safety at the next level.

DB [player_tooltip player_id='1669997' first='Troy' last='Garner'] (Rich Township – 2026)

The NIU commit is a safety that is good in coverage including getting an nice pick in one on one coverage. On the back end he can cut in front of receivers making interceptions. Very good tackler both in the box and open field.

DB [player_tooltip player_id='1889307' first='Isiah' last='Scott'] (Plainfield South – 2028)

The 5'10” sophomore corner has racked up 14 tackles, 1 interception, 6 pass break ups, and 30 assisted tackles through week 8. Breaks well on the ball which allows him to make tackles and incomplete passes. Smooth and fluid athlete on the perimeter that has typewriter footwork.

DB [player_tooltip player_id='1877899' first='Kaden' last='Powers'] (Morton – 2026)

Powers is a defensive back with good size that does a nice job of using the sideline as his friend. Shows solid range covering downfield. Contributes on coverage units.

DB Kanye Gordon (Champaign Central – 2026)

This senior defensive back has 22 tackles and 1 TFL in his first 6 games of the season. Safety who takes good angles to the ball tackling in space. Good range and speed on the back end covering a lot of ground attacking in the run game.
