Week 9 – Coming Down The Homestretch

The light at the end of the tunnel in the 2025 high school football season is getting brighter.
Those programs who worked so hard back in the spring and the early summer to stand tall here in October are seeing the fruits of all that labor put in.
We are now in the final weeks of the regular season, which will usher in the state playoffs as teams will realize their dreams that have been in place all their football-playing lives.
With that in mind, here is a look at this week's Prep Redzone Florida's top programs:
1 Bradenton IMG Academy (Independent, 6-0). The Ascenders had the week off. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - NFL Academy. NEXT WEEK: 10/25 - East St. Louis, Illinois.
2. Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (5A, 6-1). The Raiders had the trip of a lifetime and defeated the NFL Academy in England, 41-38. THIS WEEK: 10/17 – Coconut Creek Monarch. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 - @ No. 10 Plantation American Heritage.
3. Miami Northwestern (3A, 6-1). The Bulls wrapped up the district title with a 56-0 win against Key West. THIS WEEK: 10/17 – Miami Palmetto (GMAC WEEK). NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – The regular season ends at Miami St. Brendan.
4. Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (1A, 6-1). The Lions rolled to a 60-0 win against Pompano Beach Blanche Ely. THIS WEEK: 10/17 – Bye. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 - Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons.
5. Seffner Armwood (6A, 7-0). The Hawks posted their second straight shutout, 49-0, against Tampa Sickles. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - Lutz Steinbrenner. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 - Tampa Wharton.
6. Jacksonville Raines (3A, 6-0). The Vikings won a competitive game with defending Rural state champion Madison County, 27-14. THIS WEEK: 10/17 – St. Johns Creekside. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Yulee.
7. Miami Central (3A, 6-1). The Rockets bounced back with two wins this past week – 52-0 against Pompano Beach, and 59-6 against Fort Lauderdale Stranahan, officially wrapping up another district title. THIS WEEK: 10/18 – No. 8 Miami Southridge (GMAC WEEK), NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Pembroke Pines Somerset Academy.
8. Miami Southridge (6A, 8-0). The Spartans took care of business twice last week – 28-21, finishing up a game with Miami Christopher Columbus, and 49-0 against Southwest Miami. THIS WEEK: 10/18 – No. 7 Miami Central (GMAC WEEK). NEXT WEEK: Bye.
9. Orlando Edgewater (5A, 8-0). The Eagles wrapped up another district title with a 47-0 win against Winter Springs. THIS WEEK: 10/17 – Orlando Dr. Phillips. NEXT WEEK: Bye.
10. Vero Beach (7A, 7-0). The Indians continued to roll along with a 42-7 win against Rockledge. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - @Pahokee. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 - @Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast.
11. West Boca Raton (6A, 6-1). The Bulls continued to win, beating Royal Palm Beach in a district contest, 31-0, posting a fourth shutout in five games – three in a row. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - West Palm Beach Cardinal Newman. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Palm Beach Gardens.
12. Lakeland (5A, 6-1). The Dreadnaughts all but wrapped up another district title with a 34-7 win against Sebring. THIS WEEK: 10/17 – Dover Specialty Fit Academy. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Lakeland Kathleen.
13. Saint Augustine (4A, 7-0). The Yellow Jackets scored over 40 for the sixth time in seven games, beating district foe, Green Cove Springs Clay, 56-7. THIS WEEK: 10/17 – St. Johns Bartram Trail. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Orange Park Ridgeview.
14. Sarasota Booker (3A, 7-1). The Tornadoes rolled to a 42-0 win against St. Petersburg Gibbs. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - Bye. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 - Gulfport Boca Ciega.
15. Jacksonville Bolles (2A, 6-1). After an off week, the Bulldogs posted a shutout against Jacksonville Bolles, 48-0. THIS WEEK: 10/16 – Jacksonville Riverside. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Jacksonville Wolfson.
16. Sarasota Cardinal Mooney (2A, 6-1). The Cougars left no doubt who is by far one of the top teams in 2A with a convincing 35-12 win against previously unbeaten and No. 30 St. Petersburg Lakewood. THIS WEEK: 10/17 – Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 - @Tarpon Springs.
17. Fort Lauderdale Dillard (4A, 8-0). One of the highest scoring teams in the state continued to roll along with a district-clinching 38-24 win against Lake Worth Dr. Joaquin Garcia. THIS WEEK: Bye. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Boynton Beach.
18. Orlando Jones (4A, 5-2). The Tigers continued to get their mojo back with a huge district win against Lake Wales, 48-22. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - Apopka Wekiva. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Eagle Lake – Lake Region.
19. Tampa Jesuit (4A, 6-1). The Tigers continue to show why they are a force in 4A with a 63-7 win against Tampa Middleton. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - Brandon. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 - @Tampa Hillsborough.
20. Delray Atlantic (5A, 7-0). It wasn't easy, but the Eagles won the district title once again with a 33-30 win against a competitive Coconut Creek. THIS WEEK: 10/16 – Deerfield Beach. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Melbourne Eau Gallie.
21. Gainesville Buchholz (6A, 7-1). The Bobcats continue to stay in the spotlight among 6A schools with a 42-7 win against Saint Augustine Tocoi Creek. THIS WEEK: Bye. NEXT WEEK: 10/23 – St. John Bartram Trail.
22. Orlando Bishop Moore (3A, 7-0). The Hornets are showing the non-believers every week that they are a force among 3A schools, beating district foe Eustis. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - Tavares. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Tallahassee Florida High.
23. Fort Walton Beach Choctawhatchee (4A, 8-0). If you don't believe that the Indians are for real, just watch as they make a legitimate run as they did this past week – beating Tallahassee Rickards, 31-0 in a key district game. THIS WEEK: Bye. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 - Fort Walton Beach.
24. Clearwater Central Catholic (1A, 7-1). The Marauders rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 51-12 win against Zephyrhills. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - Venice. NEXT WEEK: Bye.
25. DeLand (7A, 7-0). In a year when Class 7A is up for grabs, the Bulldogs certainly have made a case that they will be tough to beat once the playoffs roll around, beating Flagler Palm Cooast, 49-21, this past week. THIS WEEK: Bye. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 - @Orange City University.
26. Orlando The First Academy (Independent, 4-3). The Royals enjoyed the week off after seven tough games. THIS WEEK: 10/17 – Springfield The St. James Performance Academy, Virginia. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Princeton Hun, New Jersey.
27. Tampa Gaither (5A, 6-1). The Cowboys had another impressive showing against Spring Hill Springstead, 49-0. enjoyed the week off after a tremendous start. THIS WEEK: 10/17 – Tampa Wharton. THIS WEEK: 10/24 – Wesley Chapel Cypress Creek.
28. Hialeah Gardens Mater Academy (5A, 7-0). The new kid on the block, the Lions continue to show why they will be a 5A program NOT to ignore as they beat Pembroke Pines Charter, 54-0. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - Lakeland Lake Gibson. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 - Miami Immaculata LaSalle.
29. Port Charlotte (4A, 6-1). The Pirates won a convincing district contest against Fort Myers Dunbar, 44-12. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - Punta Gorda Charlotte. NEXT WEEK: 10/24 – Naples.
30. St. Petersburg Lakewood (2A, 7-1). The Spartans suffered their first loss of the season against No. 16 Sarasota Cardinal Mooney, 35-12. THIS WEEK: 10/17 - @St. Petersburg Gibbs. NEXT WEEK: Bye.
