Leeshaun Mumpfield Leeshaun Mumpfield 5'10" | 175 lbs | QB Cass Tech | 2023 State MI – Cass Tech – QB – 5’9″ 175 lbs
Mumpfield lit up A&T Friday. He got into a groove, started early, and stayed hot. He went 18-22 for 259 yards and 6 touchdowns on Friday. He was making every throw hit his WR’s in the hands in stride. He was able to run around, extend plays, move the chains with his legs, and be an all-around weapon Friday. He put on a clinic and it was great to see him start the year blazing like that instead of starting slow out of the gate.
Javen Sewell Javen Sewell 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Cass Tech | 2023 State MI – Cass Tech – WR – 6’1″ 170 lbs
Sewell was all over the field on Friday. He was continuously getting open and going up and making every play. He would go up and get it, come down with it, and take off with the ball. Sewell’s footwork looked clean and like he spent a bunch of time focusing on it this past offseason. Sewell and Mumpfield had a great connection Friday and ideally, that connection continues onto next week and the rest of the year.
Khamari Anderson – Cass Tech – TE – 6’4″ 220 lbs
Anderson is a very large, and raw, athlete. He obviously has a great frame and used it to his advantage on Friday. He was able to make the most of his opportunities Friday and really stood out. He was moving the chains when it mattered most. He took a pass over the middle, turned the corner, and took the ball to the endzone for a long score. Anderson’s development has been huge for Mumpfield and if he can continue to grow, Cass Tech could be in for a huge year.
Dayvon Young Dayvon Young 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Southfield | 2022 State MI – Southfield A&T – WR – 5’11″ 170 lbs
Despite starting slow, A&T’s offense found its groove later in the game and Young was able to jumpstart that. Young showed decent speed on Friday and the ability to create separation. Young was moved all over the field and was making plays and extending drives. He’s a decent route runner and has spent time cleaning up his footwork. Young is going to be a key piece for A&T this fall and his development goes a long way in their success in 2021.
Javin Jones – Southfield A&T – RB – 5’8″ 160 lbs
Jones is a smaller RB, but he can do just about everything you need him to do. Friday, he was very shifty and making guys miss left and right. He busted a few decent runs and extended a few important conversions. He could spend some time in the weight room and put some weight on, but he is just a junior so he still has plenty of time. Jones is going to be key for them moving forward. If last Friday is any indication, Jones is going to have a big year and make developmental strides.
