The Morrilton Devil Dogs always put a team on the field that can contend for a playoff spot and usually go deep into the playoffs. Coach Cody McNabb has another group of talented Devil Dogs that should make the playoffs. In 2020, Morrilton finished with a 6-5 record and the upcoming season has the potential to be a strong one for the Devil Dogs. We are going to look at some key players for Morrilton and take a look at some of the key games on the calendar for the Devil Dogs. Looking first at the quarterback position. The Devil Dogs have talented junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="138557" first="Damarius" last="Martin"] returning. During the spring Martin displayed a strong arm and is a quarterback that can make all the throws for the Devil Dogs. Martin does a great job of knowing when to take off with the football. Martin has the potential to have a big season for the Devil Dogs this season. The Morrilton rushing attack has three talented running backs to see some carries. Kaleb McCuien is a running back that has good speed and is extremely tough to bring down. Jake Session and Hunter Newsom will see some carries for the Devil Dogs and all three have the potential to earn some carries in the red zone. Morrilton will have a good mix of the run and the pass game. The Devil Dogs have good options at the wide receiver spots. Julian Brockman does an impressive job working his way open for [player_tooltip player_id="138557" first="Damarius" last="Martin"]. Brockman has good hands and will not drop passes thrown his way. Jackson Dixon, [player_tooltip player_id="139075" first="Jonathan" last="Blaylock"], [player_tooltip player_id="134840" first="Javion" last="Ware"], and Maddox Hogan will all see pass thrown in their direction this season. Look for the Morrilton to have a dangerous passing game for opposing defenses to contend with this season. On the offensive line, Morrilton has some powerhouses for opposing defensive lines to contend with. Dawson Granberry can overwhelm opposing defensive linemen with his power. He does a great job of using his strong hands to drive the opposing lineman out of the picture. Noah Tindall will work at the guard and is extremely quick. K.J. Black will help keep the quarterback clean at the offensive tackle position. The offensive line is talented, and Morrilton will be able to run and pass the ball effectively. On the defensive side of the ball, Morrilton will be to lean on Noah Tindall and Dawson Granberry to clog up the rushing lane. Last season, he had a knack for picking off passes and he is always looking to take the ball the opposite direction. The Morrilton may need to gel, but this unit has some talented guys, and they should be a force this season. <strong>2021 Prediction:</strong> The Devil Dogs have talent, and they should challenge for a playoff spot. Morrilton is a dangerous team, and they have the ability to challenge for a conference championship. Games to circle on the calendar is Greenbrier and Farmington. The Devil Dogs are facing improved teams this season, however this is a group that should make the playoffs and perhaps go on a playoff run.
