4A ball could be the most fun in Mississippi. With many players playing both ways, it is easy to find the talented players who stick out. Check out the guys who made our preseason all state offensive team!
QUARTERBACKS
Trent Singleton Trent Singleton 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Raymond | 2022 State MS | Raymond
The Mississippi State commit could make either all-state offense or all-state defense list for 4A. Well rounded ball player who does it all for Raymond. Singleton is a weapon in the run game and is also capable of throwing a pretty deep ball. Looking for the senior athlete to put on a show this season.
DK Jenkins DK Jenkins 5'10" | 170 lbs | ATH St. Martin | 2023 State MS | Mendenhall
Jenkins was a player who impressed as a sophomore starter last season. This year, Jenkins will look to maintain the composure he had in the pocket. This is an accurate quarterback capable of taking over games with his arm and legs. Projecting for him to be among the best in all of the state this upcoming season.
Blake Counce Blake Counce 5'10" | 160 lbs | QB Tishomingo County | 2022 State MS | Tishomingo County
Senior quarterback Blake Counce Blake Counce 5'10" | 160 lbs | QB Tishomingo County | 2022 State MS has a playstyle that is hard to replicate. Using his mobility, Counce can make edge rushers miss and extend plays for longer than they should go on. He has a solid arm and throws on the run well. An impressive high school career will be capped off this season with a big senior year.
RUNNING BACKS
Carlos Brown Carlos Brown 5'9" | 195 lbs | RB Stone | 2022 State MS | Stone
The senior running back is one of the best ball carriers in the entire state. Brown has great speed, change of direction, and power to his running style. Once he gets to full speed, there’s nobody that can stop him. Potential Mr. Football candidate in 4A as well. Lists offers from Southern Miss and Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Omar Johnson Omar Johnson 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Columbia | 2022 State MS | Columbia
Johnson comes from a school that routinely puts out special backs, and he is just the next one in line. He has great speed in the open field and has a quick one cut running style that helps him gain ground quickly. Johnson also plays with power and won’t be brought down easily. Lists an offer from Mississippi State.
CJ Hill CJ Hill 5'8" | 225 lbs | RB New Albany | 2022 State MS | New Albany
A powerlifting state champion, there may not be a running back stronger than Hill. He plays with great strength through contact and can bounce of tackles. If there’s a defender in the way, Hill can run straight through them most of the time. As big as he is, Hill also has great vision to find open creases with.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Larry Simmons Larry Simmons 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Moss Point | 2022 State MS | Moss Point
The Ole Miss commit is known as one of the best football players in Mississippi. Simmons has game wrecking speed and ability after the catch that set him apart from everybody else. In addition, he also has incredible ball skills and can catch anything thrown his direction. A truly special player set up for another big season.
Cameron Knox Cameron Knox 5'11" | 180 lbs | ATH New Albany | 2022 State MS | New Albany
The Southern Miss commit is another player that could have made either offense or defense list. Knox is an explosive playmaker with speed to take the top off the defense. He is a dominant deep threat receiver who tracks the ball well downfield. Early play time candidate at USM on either side of the ball.
Jarvis Rush Jarvis Rush 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Louisville | 2022 State MS | Louisville
State champion Jarvis Rush Jarvis Rush 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Louisville | 2022 State MS had a big year last season. The long wide out used his height advantage to dominate defensive backs all over Mississippi on jump balls. Rush is a big time possession receiver who has enough long speed to keep defenses honest. Lists offers from Southern Miss and many local JuCos.
Tyron Henderson Tyron Henderson 6'1" | 165 lbs | WR Newton County | 2022 State MS | Newton County
Henderson could be one of the biggest sleeper wide outs in Mississippi. He has great speed, quickness, and hands while also running crisp routes. Henderson finds space in the defense well and can turn a short catch into a big gain. Lists offers from Co-Lin, Hinds, and other local JuCos.
OFFENSIVE LINEMEN
Tyshawn Graham Tyshawn Graham 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Caledonia | 2022 State MS | Caledonia
Anchoring the right side of Caledonia’s offensive line, Tyshawn Graham Tyshawn Graham 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Caledonia | 2022 State MS is a highly athletic lineman with a ton of ability to him. He fires off the ball and plays in space well in the screen game. In his limited pass protection, Graham is light on his feet with a strong first punch. Currently lists no offers, but that should change soon.
D.K. Harris D.K. Harris 6'3" | 310 lbs | OL Clarksdale | 2022 State MS | Clarksdale
The road grader out of Clarksdale checks in as one of the state’s best guards. Harris plays with a strong base and uses his upper body strength to dominate defenders around 4A. He is dominant in the run game, clearing the path for a back to gain easy yards. Lists an offer from Mississippi Delta.
Jamar Winn Jamar Winn 6'0" | 320 lbs | OL Mendenhall | 2023 State MS | Mendenhall
As a sophomore, Winn started at center for Mendenhall. The young interior player will look to build on his big year this season. Winn has great strength and knowledge of the game. He rarely misses blocks and has the athleticism to play in space too. Really good lineman who will be a name to know these upcoming two seasons.
Roscoe Tucker Roscoe Tucker 6'4" | 325 lbs | OL Northeast Lauderdale | 2023 State MS | Northeast Lauderdale
At 6’4″ 355, Tucker didn’t look like your average sophomore last season. He started games at tackle and played with a nasty edge that is hard to find. Tucker has great footwork and can use his strength to dominate any defender that lines up across from him. Really good player with a lot of college upside.
