Oluniyi gives Monarch's offense a true home run threat. He has the unique ability to get skinny in the hole and burst through when he gets to the line of scrimmage, showing his top end speed in the open field. Once he reaches the second level, Oluniyi has the burst to outrun defenders and turn routine carries into touchdowns. His patience allows blocks to develop before he accelerates decisively through running lanes. Against Poudre, he'll look to spark early momentum with his big play ability, keeping the defense on its heels. If he gets into rhythm, Oluniyi has the potential to shift the tone of the game quickly with chunk yardage and explosive scoring runs.

Carter proved himself last year as a two way contributor but his defensive presence in the secondary stands out the most. A physical defensive back, Carter excels in run support, flying downhill to make tackles in open space. He reads his keys quickly, enabling him to react to both runs and passes with confidence. Carter has shown he can disrupt plays in coverage by breaking up passes or turning turnovers into momentum. Though he stepped in at quarterback when needed, his biggest impact will continue to come on defense. If Carter builds on last year's production, he could be one of the breakout players in this Week 1 matchup.

Shubert brings consistency and toughness to the middle of Poudre's defense. A sound tackler in the open field, Shubert has the discipline to stay square and fill gaps against the run, limiting opponents' gains at the line of scrimmage. His footwork and strength allow him to shed blocks quickly and maintain control in traffic. Beyond his run stopping ability, Shubert also has the versatility to drop into coverage, where he's shown ball hawking skills to come down with interceptions. His ability to impact both phases makes him an X-factor in this matchup. If Shubert is flying around and setting the tone defensively, this unit will be hard to sustain drives against.

Tharp gives Monarch a reliable target capable of creating separation at all three levels of the field. He uses leverage well to stack defensive backs and he has sharp footwork with the ability to win at the top of his routes. Tharp's wide catch radius and strong hands make him a dangerous threat in contested situations, especially when high pointing the football in traffic. Building off late season success, Tharp enters Week 1 looking to assert himself as a primary weapon in the passing game. If Monarch establishes rhythm early, Tharp could play a central role in sustaining drives and producing explosive plays against a tough Poudre defense.

Payne adds explosiveness and balance to Poudre's offense. His vision allows him to identify running lanes quickly, while his ability to make the first defender miss creates opportunities for big gains. Once he bounces to the perimeter, Payne has the speed to turn the corner and rip off chunk yardage. His agility in tight spaces makes him difficult to contain, as he can shift gears and keep defenders off balance. In this matchup, Payne will be relied upon to generate momentum and keep the offense ahead of schedule. If he breaks free for a couple of long runs, he could easily tilt the outcome in Poudre's favor.

Gray brings versatility and athleticism to Monarch's defense. Equally capable of dropping into coverage or stepping up in run support, Gray uses his speed and instincts to impact multiple phases of the game. He is a reliable open field tackler who consistently prevents extra yardage by bringing down ball carriers on his own. Gray also possesses strong hands and the awareness to create turnovers when opportunities arise. His presence can stall drives with early stops or game changing interceptions. Against a Poudre offense that thrives on rhythm, Gray's ability to disrupt plays on critical downs could make him one of the most important defensive players on the field.
