2021 Season Preview: Fort Mill Yellow Jackets

Fort Mill went winless during the 2020 COVID year. But coach Rob NcNeely has the pieces in place to where they can at least get the ball rolling to where they can compete in their region and beyond. The Yellow Jacket offense returns senior quarterback Kyle Neibech <a href="https://twitter.com/kneibch_11">(@kneibch_11) </a>who also plays basketball as well. Wide receiver J.J. Ogwal <a href="https://twitter.com/jj_ogwal">(@jj_ogwal)</a> is another senior who will be counted on to lead the offense with his ability to run crisp and smooth routes. He won’t dance in space and makes good north and south progress. Ogwal has an offer from a Division II program, Hampden-Sydney College, which is located an hour outside of Lynchburg, Virginia. Junior wideout Jason Moran <a href="https://twitter.com/Jason_moran11">(@Jason_moran11)</a> will be a guy to watch as well. But the offense will be headlined by senior offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="59497" first="Marcus" last="Boston Brinkley"] <a href="https://twitter.com/BostonBrinkley">(@BostonBrinkley)</a>, who is as impressive as they come at the position, which is why he holds multiple Power Five and Ivy League offers, which include Elon University, Army West Point, Howard University along with a host of others. Brinkley will be accompanied by offensive lineman Charlie Veltri <a href="https://twitter.com/CharlieVeltri">(@CharlieVeltri)</a> Senior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="118721" first="Miller" last="Shouse"] <a href="https://twitter.com/ShouseMiller">(@ShouseMiller) </a>returns for the Yellow Jackets on defense and provides physicality with his motor that is always running and his high football IQ. The kicking game will not be an issue for the Yellow Jackets as they return senior punter Joe Schepler <a href="https://twitter.com/JoeSchepler">(@JoeSchepler)</a>, one of the top kickers in the country. 2021 Schedule (home games in bold; region games in italics) Aug. 20 – at Catawba Ridge Aug. 27 – at Chester Sept. 3 – Indian Land Sept. 10 – Lancaster Sept. 17 – Lugoff Elgin Sept. 24 – at York Oct. 1 – Nation Ford Oct. 8 – at Clover Oct. 15 – BYE Oct. 22 – Boiling Springs Oct. 29 – at Gaffney Fort Mill has a doable non-region schedule to help them get off on the winning track, especially once we get to the first full month of the season in September. The challenge will come once they get into region play and they will be able to gauge how far they’ve come with games against Boiling Springs and Gaffney.
