2021 Season Preview: Katy Taylor Mustangs

Today we are looking at the Katy Taylor Mustangs and what they are bringing back for this upcoming season. The Mustangs finished last season with a 9-3 record, making it to the third round of the playoffs under Coach Simmons and his staff. The Mustangs had a very balanced offensive attack, averaging 27 points per game, throwing close to 140 yards per game and running for over 170 yards per game. For the 2021 season, Katy Taylor are returning a total of 20 lettermen players, 5 returning offensive starters and 5 returning defensive starters. The Mustangs will be a team to watch heading into next season, with great players at key positions ready to leave it on the field. In a very competitive district, Coach Simmons will have his players ready to go every week and good things are expected from a very good team! &nbsp; <span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 18pt;"><strong>Key Returners</strong></span> <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><strong>RB [player_tooltip player_id="131355" first="Michael" last="Whitaker"] (2022)</strong></em></span> - Whitaker returns as the leading rusher from last season, running for 804 yards with 9 rushing touchdowns. He added 38 receptions for 334 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns as well. Whitaker is a very productive back who shows great burst and acceleration in the open field.
