Southeastern Conference’s Top Returning Defensive Lineman

The trenches are a lot of times the reason one team defeats another in high school football. The Southeastern Conference returns several key defensive lineman whose play will be a major factor in their respective team’s success. <strong>Marcus Hoskins </strong>(2022) | 5-10 | Jackson | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EPfmF">Hudl</a> Hoskins is very quick off the line of scrimmage. This type of quickness is what allows him to wreak havoc in opponents’ backfields. Hoskins is a hard hitter and a physical tackler. He does a tremendous job of getting off of blocks. Hoskins is a versatile player who can also play on the offensive line. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="30290" first="Charlie" last="Lovell"] </strong>(2022) | 6-4 | Pickney | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EZ63r">Hudl</a> [player_tooltip player_id="30290" first="Charlie" last="Lovell"] does an excellent job of setting the edge at his defensive end position. He has great size at 6-4. Lovell uses his size and strength to effortlessly shed blockers. Lovell is also fast enough to chase down quarterbacks and running backs. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="169537" first="Bruce" last="Williams"] </strong>(2023) | 6-3 | Ann Arbor Huron |<a href="http://www.hudl.com/video/3/13378524/60346eda32dce30258bda2d6"> Hudl</a> [player_tooltip player_id="169537" first="Bruce" last="Williams"] has a motor that is always running. He excels in both stopping the run and rushing the passer. With great strength in his upper and lower body, Williams has the capability to take on multiple blockers. Willimas will enter only his junior year in 2021 with a very bright future ahead. <strong>Joe Raupp</strong> (2022) | 5-10 | Saline | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EZgbj">Hudl</a> Joe Raupp is a hard-hitter who makes his opponents feel every hit. You can tell that Raupp has been coached well by the way he uses his rip move to get around blockers. Raupp is a guy who seems to always be in a position to make a play. Look for Raupp to continue to swarm to ball carriers once again in 2021. <strong>Tayshaun Nichols </strong>(2022) | 6-2 | Monroe | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2FN37x">Hudl</a> Tayshaun Nichols is an outstanding football player. On the defensive line, he has the versatility to rush from the interior and the edge. He has no problem getting off of blocks from guards and tackles. He also is athletic enough to jump up and deflect the quarterback’s throws. Nichols also plays running back on offense and is nearly impossible to tackle one on one.
