DeLand Learned A Lot From The 2024 Season

In this article:
When veteran football coach Rick Darlington and his football team attended the Central Florida Media Day last month at Seminole State College in Heathrow, they spoke about what was learned from a frustrating 2024 season.
What the Bulldogs learned was if they were going to be a force in Class 7A, they would have to be much more consistent after advancing to the state playoffs, only to drop an opening-round game against eventual state runner up Lake Mary.
This is a team that began the season 4-1, but lost five of the final six and finished 0-3 in the district.
With some quality talent coming back, this off-season saw this team work hard and attend several events that gave the players a chance to mature and get better.
Heading into the 2025 season, which starts this week with the pre-season, there is a feeling that some of the things that went wrong a year ago could change for the better this year.
