On behalf of Prep Redzone, here is your preseason All-State team. These young men are already quite accomplished and will no doubt be adding some big things to their resumes. The 2021 season will unquestionably feature big things from these players.

Quarterback
Tyler Smith Tyler Smith 5'10" | 175 lbs | QB Sergeant Bluff-Luton | 2023 State IA , Sergeant Bluff-Luton, C/O 2023, 5’10, 175, hudl, Twitter
Smith is one of the best and most refined passers in the entire state; it doesn’t hurt that he is dynamic on the ground either. He is so on point with the timing and placement of his balls. Smith can drop back and dismantle the best coverage.
Running Back
Devionne West Jr Devionne West Jr 5'8" | 200 lbs | RB Bishop Heelan | 2023 State IA , Bishop Heelan, C/O 2023, 5’8, 200, hudl, Twitter
West knows how and when to hit a gap regardless of the blocking scheme he is running behind and does so as explosively as anyone in the state. He bursts to top speed in a flash. West’s contact balance and leg drive is absolutely elite.
Wide Receiver
Connor Frame Connor Frame 6'2" | 190 lbs | WR Harlan | 2022 State IA , Harlan, C/O 2022, 6’2, 190, hudl, Twitter
Frame has game speed that rivals anyone he could line up next to or across from in Iowa. He sustains that speed through his routes and after the catch, which makes him scary. Frame demands extra attention in coverage and makes plays anyway.
Caeden Da Silva Caeden Da Silva 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR Nevada | 2022 State IA , Nevada, C/O 2022, 6’3, 190, hudl, Twitter
Da Silva is one of the top vertical threats in the entire state and, with his frame and catch radius, there isn’t much he can’t go and get. He maintains noticeably excellent sprint mechanics in his routes. Da Silva is a master at getting behind coverage.
Tight End
Max Weaton Max Weaton 6'6" | 215 lbs | TE Fairfield | 2023 State IA , Fairfield, C/O 2023, 6’6, 205, hudl, Twitter
Weaton is so big, fast, and in control of his movements; his ceiling is extraordinarily high. He has a unique skill set that makes him effective in different positions across formations. Weaton is a vicious blocker and earns his looks in the passing game.
Vince Benetti Vince Benetti 6'4" | 210 lbs | TE ADM | 2023 State IA , ADM, C/O 2023, 6’4, 210, hudl, Twitter
Benetti excels in the role of the modern Tight End; not many young men can catch passes and block like him. He is uncommonly quick and nimble for his size. Benetti has no problems outmatching Linebackers and Safeties over the middle of the field.
Offensive Line
Ethan Hooyer Ethan Hooyer 6'2" | 290 lbs | OL Sioux Center | 2022 IA , Sioux Center, C/O 2022, 6’2, 290, hudl, Twitter
Hooyer moves with extreme velocity from his stance to the point of attack and overwhelms his opponents. He takes their chest, covers them up, and drives. Hooyer’s aiming points and angles are especially impressive and make him dominant.
Trace Hackaday Trace Hackaday 6'5" | 255 lbs | OL Keokuk | 2022 IA , Keokuk, C/O 2022, 6’5, 260, hudl, Twitter
Hackaday has on field mechanics that rival anyone in the state; pair that with his size and you have an absolute mauler up front. He is so quick to his assignments. Hackaday’s pass protection, specifically his drive-catch, is mature for his age.
Kale Krogh Kale Krogh 6'6" | 260 lbs | OL Ballard | 2022 State IA , Ballard, C/O 2022, 6’6, 265, hudl, Twitter
Krogh is an absolute technician who differentiates his blocks accordingly and to perfection. His execution on the ground and in pass protection is exemplary. Krogh’s Offensive Line knowledge and ability is mature and certainly ready for the next level.
Ben Kuehnast Ben Kuehnast 6'7" | 260 lbs | OL Humboldt | 2022 State IA , Humboldt, C/O 2022, 6’7, 265, hudl, Twitter
Kuehnast is an enormous young Offensive Lineman whose athleticism and coordination caught up very quickly with his frame. He moves so well and imagining that frame filled out is terrifying. Kuehnast has limitless potential and a strong foundation.
Joe Turner Joe Turner 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Davenport Assumption | 2022 State IA , Assumption, C/O 2022, 6’4, 285, hudl, Twitter
Turner is relentless in clearing out the trenches and does so with great functional strength. He has top notch mobility and body control for his size. Turner is mean and nasty in the way he finishes blocks; that attitude and ability to back it up is impressive.
Defensive Back
Colby Calvert Colby Calvert 5'8" | 150 lbs | DB Ballard | 2022 IA , Ballard, C/O 2022, 5’8, 150, hudl, Twitter
Calvert is very sticky in coverage and does an outstanding job of running with and matching routes. He plays in reverse so well and maintains textbook body position as plays unfold. Calvert can follow an opponent’s best receiver across formations.
Mario Hoefer, Charles City, C/O 2022, 5’11, 170, hudl, Twitter
Hoefer is one of the most electric athletes in all of Iowa. His ability to cover ground and get to the play from anywhere on the field is truly unrivaled. He has the size and length to play outside and the quickness and speed to lock down the slot.
Kyle Cole, West Delaware, C/O 2022, 6’1, 175, hudl, Twitter
Cole plays with so much range and his ability to break on plays once the ball is in the air is impressive. He picks up opponents really well when they enter his zone. Cole diagnoses quickly and provides top notch support to the rest of the defense.
Caden Matson Caden Matson 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Humboldt | 2022 State IA , Humboldt, C/O 2022, 6’0, 185, hudl, Twitter
Matson is one of the best two-way players and ballhawks in Iowa. He is responsible for tons of violent collisions that seize momentum in run support and breaking on routes. Matson is the exact kind of presence you want patrolling the middle of the field.
Linebacker
Jacob Imming Jacob Imming 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Sergeant Bluff-Luton | 2022 State IA , Sergeant Bluff-Luton, C/O 2022, 6’2, 200, hudl, Twitter
Imming is the total package; it isn’t just the physicality he executes with, the cerebral abilities are very noticeable. He recognizes so quickly, sometimes seemingly before the snap, and flies to the ball. Imming is unstoppable at the high school level.
Will McLaughlin Will McLaughlin 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Harlan | 2022 State IA , Harlan, C/O 2022, 6’3, 220, hudl, Twitter
McLaughlin is substantially bigger, stronger, and faster than even your top tier high school Linebacker. He overpowers and overwhelms blockers to get to the ball. McLaughlin finishes plays with some of the most punishing tackles you will find.
Wyatt Voelker Wyatt Voelker 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB West Delaware | 2022 State IA , West Delaware, C/O 2022, 6’0, 210, hudl, Twitter
Voelker is so violent and the closing speed he gets home with as he is tracking the ball is unparalleled. He accelerates rapidly to and through the ball with textbook position specific technique. Voelker cannot be stopped on his way to the ball.
Defensive Line
Aiden Morgan Aiden Morgan 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL Davenport Assumption | 2022 IA , Assumption, C/O 2022, 6’3, 235, hudl, Twitter
Morgan’s athleticism and natural abilities are plentiful and an excellent compliment to the job description of an edge defender. He will undoubtedly be making a living in the backfield this season. Morgan is explosive at the snap and quick to defeat blocks.
Trevor Lause Trevor Lause 6'5" | 210 lbs | DL Saydel | 2022 IA , Saydel, C/O 2022, 6’5, 210, hudl, Twitter
Lause has so much length that, combined with fast hands and quick steps, make him highly effective every down. He takes up so much space at the line of scrimmage to disrupt blocking schemes. Lause shines as a pass rusher and applies tons of pressure.
Cayden Knipper, Solon, C/O 2022, 6’3, 215, hudl, Twitter
Knipper is a rock steady force every down at owning a gap, destroying blocks, and disengaging to the ball. He also has impressive block recognition and transitions to pass rush seamlessly. Knipper is a model of consistency on the line.
Derek Paup, Creston, C/O 2022, 6’2, 220, hudl, Twitter
Paup has refined position specific technique and an unbeatable motor; he is relentless. He recognizes blocks and reacts accordingly as well as anyone in the state. Paup is mean up front and plays the position the way it is intended to be played.
